That's pretty fucking embarrassing. That defense is horrendous...and I'm not sure that's the word for it...

Too late to put up a help wanted poster for this defense? 11 live bodies have to be better than the corpses we saw out there today.

our safety play is killing us.

I must admit that I was very surprised that we waited until the 7th round to draft a safety, we need to get a playmaker back there...

Agreed. Might as well give him a shot. Shamarko seems lost in pass coverage.
I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest. If you can't take it, you shouldn't play!- Jack Lambert

It's to be expected when players don't know where they belong. The Steelers need to find some intelligent players.

Besides Harrison, which veterans on defense are really worth keeping? I sure would like to know how Heyward does with is gap responsibilities.

As of now Thomas should not be the starter. Allen and Mitchell should be the starters.

My starting defense looks like this...

    OLB - Harrison
    OLB - Moats
    ILB - Shazier
    ILB - Timmons
    CB - Boykins(maybe Allen)
    CB - Gay
    FS - Mitchell
    SS - Allen
    DE - Tuitt
    DE - Heyward
    NT - Mclendon

    Preseason means little to nothing.
How many starters did the Steelers play after halftime ?
    Steelers never have winning preseasons.

I like you're line up but you bring up a question...could Cortez Allen convert to a safety position?

I think he means Will Allen at Safety.

Yeah...that's what I assume. But it popped in my head, that I wondered if Cortez could play in that spot...

Couldn't be any worse than what has been on display this pre season.

I am pretty sure the Steelers have had winning pre-seasons. I wonder if they had some during their SB seasons.

Does anyone have a link showing pre-season w/l records?

http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/schedule.../pit/year/2000 (You can change years in the dropdown box) and it only shows preseason scores back to 2000

    Tomlin has been 3-1 in every preseason except 2007 (4-1), 2013 (0-4), 2014 (1-3)

2003 team was 1-3 in preseason - 6-10 regular season
2006 team was 0-4 in preseason - 8-8 regular season

Thanks. I also noticed you can manipulate the year in the URL, but it won't give the pre-season record. I flipped back to 1989 and was reminded of when the Steelers lost the first game of the season to the Browns 51-0.

    That day was awful.

That said, the worst loss to the Browns was in 2009. I still don't get how they lost that game. Oh right... Arians refused to run the ball in sub-zero winds.

The "Eric Metcalf two returns for TDs" game was pretty bad, too.

The loss against the browns were not the worst in 2009...The game before against the raiders were worse.

If the steelers would have won against the raiders, they probably would have won against the browns.

Interesting point. Here's what I rememebr from that game.

Gradkowski (then a Raidah) throws a game-losing INT right into Joe Burnett's hands... which Burnett dropped. The Raidahs then scored, and I stood in my buddy's living room, stunned with disbelief.

Honeslty, you could pick ANY of those five losses in a row as being "the worst."

6-2 and the #1 seed... to 6-7 and essentially dead.

For half a second, I thought that it said RB (instead of QB)...

    Bills... RB... kill...

    Yes, I thought of OJ.
