At one point on Monday, Buster Posey, the prince of Major Leauge Baseball’s modern dynasty, was surrounded by exactly two reporters. Poor Shelby Miller, the Braves’ blossoming pitcher, was all by his lonesome. Then there were the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Andrew McCutchen, A.J. Burnett, Gerrit Cole and Mark Melancon – especially McCutchen and Burnett – were given rock star treatment throughout the afternoon.


It was something to see.


The entire baseball world wanted to ask about the Pirates and their looming showdown with the Cardinals for the remainder of the season. Those two nationally televised, classic wins against the Cardinals are all the rage in Cincinnati......
