I do NOT like... why do the Steelers insist on wasting 3rd round picks on WRs/RBs??

I'm not going to think negatively about the pick until we see how it pans out. You never know, we may have just drafted a future Hall of Famer.

Just feel like these guys are settling for their 2nd, 3rd, 4th options in these rounds instead of getting who they really want. 2nd Round being the best example...

Not saying he might not turn out to be a good player, but did we really need a WR in the 3rd round?

I guess we're trying to establish a new tradition of wasting the third-round pick? That's two years in a row that are just ... WTF, Haley.

Good players out there at two positions we still need help, and we're like, "Nope, instead we'll go over here and smoke some crack now!" Good lord.

I would say no just because of other positions that need to be filled, but I think this guy has some good upside.

Yeah, just what we need, that guy busting our balls twice a season for the next 10 years. Welp, never too early to start hoping he's a bust.

These picks better turn out to be excellent players because Colbert and Tomlin don't exactly have a solid draft record and so far this year's draft is no different.

Dafuq? I wake up to a WR? Can he return kickoffs or punts? I'd rather have gone OL or another DB

    Ozzie Newsome >>>>>>>>>>>Kevin Colbert

At the very least Carl Davis could have kept Can't Thomas off the field and now he is in Baltimore. Also free safety was a much bigger need

That's why I said new tradition. I'm only counting this and Archer. And if the jury is still out on him, it's 11-1 in favor of the death penalty.

Regardless, even if this guy turns out to be a good player, he's a player we don't really need. I sure hope they've got some backup plan in case the McCullers isn't the answer and the kid in Round 2 turns into the next Ricardo Colclough ...

Death penalty... speaking of which, the movie "12 Angry Men" is so relevant.

    (You gotta admit: that's funny.)

In all fairness Golson is a player that could thrive in zone coverage, and Coates has 1st round talent with a concentration problem. Not talking pro or con, just getting a handle on the Steelers mind set.

Possibly. If everything breaks in our favor, we look back at this draft positively. A lot would have to break our way, though. But if the draft is about matching the most talented players to your most important needs, right now we've got two D's and an F.

I think they whiffed on two players they wanted and then freaked out.

Golson I can live with, he'll be a good (albeit, small) zone corner but this Coates pick is really frustrating.

Yup, that sounds like it to me. With a tinge of "Value! Can't pick Carter yet!" thrown in. Seriously, just pick the best damn player, dude.

The Coates pick I can only attribute to the theory that they were drinking their asses off since noon, and by the end of the day, this was the result.

The entire FO should be drug-tested, this was so bad. I would have expected better from Matt Millen!

They're doing pretty well. Unfortunately, I think it's the Ravens who are just killing it so far. Every single player they've drafted, I can picture becoming a major pain in the ass for us over the next several years.

Meanwhile, I think I found the source of Colbert's inspiration:

I don't a agree. We got a player that may be one of the best outside pass rushers, a CB that we don't really know how good he will be for us, even if he is smaller than we would like, and a WR that could be very good. I believe Bryant had some concentration problems when he was in school. Remember, a luxury pick could become a need when some of our players start wanting a new contracts. I will wait a least till TC before I get to disappointed.
Mind you these may not be picks I would have made, but that doesn't make me right, and them wrong..
I do hope we are not threw looking at CBs, there are still a couple of CBs that may be interesting. Looking forward to tomorrow, see you then bud.

I WR is a great pick. Coates is at worst Bryant 2.0. At best, I have heard AJ Green comparisons.

Anyone really sold on Wheaton, or at least sold on giving him $6 million a year in another season or so?

Behind Brown, Bryant, and Wheaton, you had DHB and the damn pretzel vendor.

So far in the draft you got a OLB with a low floor, but a Demarcus Ware level ceiling. A CB that seems to find the ball despite his size - so something between Deshea Townsend and Brent Grimes. Then you get another toy for Ben to play with.

I don't know, but how is this the disaster some are making it out to be?

Thank you. It isn't. I'll admit, at first blush I wasn't crazy about the Coates pick. But then I remembered that Heyward-Bey is one badly-turned ankle away from starting...
