The Steelers do not have ton of cap room considering they still need to sign a rookie class (about 4-5 million) and like to have an in season contingency of around 1-2 million. So that means they need to be about 6 million under prior to the draft.
This website (
http://overthecap.com/salary-cap/pittsburgh-steelers) has the team right around that #.
Additionally,
exactly who was it that DK wanted them to sign? Worilds? Orakpo? Morgan? Or perhaps one of the miss-cast 3-4 OLB that are better 4-3 defensive ends by all accounts such as Sheard (Hey! Did you hear he went to Pitt? He must be awesome!) or Graham? Or maybe DK wanted to spend 2-4 million dollars per year on a jumped up 3rd corner like Mcain or Robinson?
I am by no means arguing that signing Harrison means they fixed the defense and let's all go buy Super Bowl tickets tomorrow, but (once again) this is a totally unthoughtful, useless piece of journalism/editorial. Seriously, whatever they are paying DK, I will take 2/3 of his salary and do twice the job.
