Adam Jones loses $12.4M appeal

The Nevada Supreme Court has upheld an order for Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones to pay more than $12.4 million in damages in the shooting of two former Las Vegas strip club doormen, including one left paralyzed during a 2007 melee.
The unanimous state high court ruling issued Thursday keeps Jones on the hook to pay Tommy Urbanski and his ex-wife, Kathy..........

I really don't see why he's the one paying $12 million when it was someone else who shot the guy. Jones is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but the only one responsible for paralyzing this guy is the person who decided to fire a gun. Kind of a dangerous precedent to set - whoever has the most money is on the hook to pay for some other idiot who shot someone.

I remember the argument they tried to make - that Jones "incited a brawl" by throwing a bunch of money in the air, but even at the time, I remember thinking, what bullshit, how can that make you responsible for a mob of fools who can't control themselves.

Make no mistake, I think Pacman Jones is a real turd and a complete waste of space, but this just doesn't strike me as even slightly fair. Also a real shame that a guy with that much talent would choose to waste it all so that he could spend all his time acting like a dumbfuck.
