Rand got the better of him at the start (a situation that was completely his own fault) and Carly Fiorina absolutely mauled him. The body language and facial expressions made him look like a complete assclown IMO (although CNN set it up so that couldn't be missed).
He very awkwardly went after Paul in the very first minute when he had absolutely nothing to do with the question. Then he attempted to claim that he didn't go for ad-hominems and tried to take one in the very same sentence. Everybody noticed that.
Carly exploded his magazine with a shot to the midships and his response was the single most awkward moment of the night.
His exchange with Jeb also came off horribly, as he was left claiming that Jeb was "making things up" when the facts were not only on Jeb's side, but he had already admitted to it. Plus the whole situation was clearly established fact.
Jeb, OTOH, was just playing to perceptions. People vote for tall candidates. It's contrived and comes off that way, but it's not childish IMO.
