Haley's time has come for Steelers

A group of smiling men gathered near the front right wall of the Steelers dressing room at Heinz Field late Sunday afternoon. The head coach, Mike Tomlin, shared words with the general manager, Kevin Colbert, and the team president, Art Rooney II. A victory and playoff spot, the Steelers' first in three NFL seasons, had been secured, and seemingly to a greater sense of satisfaction than any of these three men of influence would have rather acknowledged.

“No,” Rooney said, moments like this never get old.

A few minutes later a man walked past his bosses almost without notice. Dressed in a suit, a knit cap pulled snug over his head, Todd Haley drew no attention to himself.

Whatever happened in his past, Haley has tried to avoid attention from the day he joined his hometown Steelers as offensive coordinator..........

Roethlisberger can actually throw the ball accurately right now. Peyton Manning, for whatever reason, can't. Also, Roethlisberger is a better quarterback right now than Manning. Just look at the stats.
I guess it's not all about watching those tapes.

I'm so tired of this BS being perpetuated like he just learned how to play the position this season. Ben has a 63.7 career completion percentage, which is higher than Brady's. And that's with an average-per-attempt of 7.9 yards, which is also higher than Brady's, and Manning's and Brees' to boot, so it's not like he's been boosting his completion percentage with a bunch of dump offs either.

Ben's ALWAYS been accurate. You want to see an inaccurate QB who was lucky if he could hit the broad side of a barn on most Sundays? Right here:

I'm not sure if it's Haley's offense, or the O-Line's improvement, or Ben's maturation, but I think this is the first year since Ben became the starter that no one is really complaining about him getting sacked. Keep the man upright and he has an MVP-caliber season - who would've thunk it?

Look again - the #10 in the picture I posted was our starter for the better part of 5 years.

I'm sure there will be times during the game where I'm cursing Haley out, even if we end up winning. But win or lose, I have to admit Haley has won me over a bit. He has shown some adaptability and feel for closing a game.

I don't want him fired this offseason (I know he won't be fired no matter what anyone wants at this point). It's kind of similar to why I've never wanted Tomlin fired, no matter how much I've criticized him. There is something to be said for stability, and even more to be said for success breeding trust, breeding more success and on and on. With Ben and an OC this is a really big deal. It looks like our QB and OC finally understand and trust one another. With the talent they have around them, that is a good platform to build on. I'm optimistic that the two of them (Ben and Todd) will continue to move in the right direction together.

Also, bringing a new OC in (no matter how good he is) will take adjustment time that I don't want to waste when we should be coming out of the gate next year scoring heaps of points. We should NOT be sending Ben back to his Rosetta Stone.

Does this mean we no longer want to fire Haley?
    'Cuz I'm cool with that...

Haley will never going to be fired after this year and it would be a horrible idea to do so, since the adjustment time takes too long!

Everytime I see a picture of Kordell, I continue to wonder what he would've become had Cowher left him in that "Slash" roll and Kordell embraced it...he could've been something extraordinarily special IMO.
