It's definitely an interesting development since the primary need going into the draft is on the defensive side.
We have so many inside backers, does that hinder our ability to make a switch to the 4-3?
Edit: And that being said, I wonder if with this current roster, a hybrid scheme would be our best option, keeping the 3-4 as the base defense.
We haven't played a 4-3 since 1982, so it would be interesting if that happens.
its a toss up really , if you go 3-4 you have to have at least 1 rush OLB and improve the secondary
if you go 4-3 you need 1 incredible Rush DE and probably another better than average one to go with him ( is 1 on the current roster ? doubt it ) so need 2 players ( plus depth but we could finagle depth from what we have tweeners and bigger bodies ) and still same secondary issues ...

Obvious way too early, but seems a little high for Johnson IMO. There are a lot of guys on that board that really like Dupree there though.
About halfway down there's a comment regarding a trade with the Jets for 22 so they can get Hundley. Makes a lot of sense.
Looks like it's Butler.
What are your thoughts on trading up for a Tackle or Shane Ray?

Trading up is never on my to do list ( and I like Ray a lot ) the cost of doing business is always to high for what you get in return IMO ...
Even the trade for Troy as great as he has been over his career , for me not worth what we gave up because one could argue Troy may have been there at our selection point ( he had concussion concerns even back then ) but that aspect of the argument aside who knows what player you never got to roster would have been in his case was a 100 selection ...
Nnamdi Asomugha was drafted 15 spots after Troy ... ( we could have taken him and still had a 3rd round pick )
Ricky Manning and Chris Crocker both went in the 3rd round that year as did Jason Witten
as much as I love and appreciate all Troy has done for the Steelers over the years no way if I had to choose would I take Troy over Asomugha and one of those other 3 per example would you ?
thats how I look at it ...
