Can we stop the myth that Suggs went for the knees? Please?

Come on, there's enough to hate the Ravens for, and Suggs especially. But crying that Suggs went for Blount's knees is silly, and makes us, as fans, look bad. Here's the pics to prove my point. Note that that the first still frame came at point of contact, and the second came at the end of the tackle.

Still want to say it was a cheap shot? Fine. I'd argue it, but I'm also somewhat leery of lining somewhat up from behind and driving into them, even if they did take care to hit the hip, as Suggs did.

It was definitely a cheap shot. I don't care whether he hit him in the knees, the hips, or the back, you just don't do that.

In the video of the play, you can clearly see the play is over for all intents and purposes, with Blount getting stopped and pushed back by the defenders. Suggs is walking along watching the play, sees exactly what is happening, then gets a running start and dives at him low. NOTHING POSITIVE can happen from doing that.

There's no "myth" about it, it was a dirty play all the way.

He wasn't going for the knees, I agree, but you can still cause a serious knee injury when you hit a guy in the hip from behind who is not expecting it. Which is why it was as dirty as the day is long.

BTW, this could have been brought up in the existing thread about Suggs' hit. Didn't need a separate thread.

It was a cheap shot and there is as good a chance as "he just missed" as he was just going for the hip. It was cheap and he intent was to hurt Blount.

What makes it even worse is the way Suggs reacted after the play. Instead of going to Blount and seeing if he was okay, saying something like "I got caught up with adrenalin and wasn't thinking but didn't really want to injure you" he was all chest thumpy like "yeah, I'm the intimidating bad boy in this game. Grrr." Fuck him. I used to hate him, but respect him. Now I just hate him. Compare him to Harrison who can play hard and intimidate and still help Joe flacco to hs feet after leveling him. Why? Because Flacco will be just as scared of him on the next play anyway. Harrison doesn't have to act the part. He is intimidating. Real football players don't have to pretend.

To me, it's a middle ground issue, where he saw the chance and pushed to the very edge of the gray area of outright dirty, but didn't go over it. Had he hit six inches lower, or six inches higher, I'd be saying something very different.
