And so appropriate coming from Rice. I think he must see something of himself in the kid: the way he prepares, his dedication to the game, the fact that his greatness comes from out-practicing everyone else. Yes, it would be nice to be a physical freak like Calvin Johnson, but AB does it the way Rice did: with hard work first, physical ability second. AB reminds me so much of Rice that it really makes me happy to see the G.O.A.T. himself acknowledge it as well.Originally Posted by Dwinsgames
I'd love to give Tomlin and the organization credit for making one of the single best Sophie's Choices in franchise history (akin to keeping Ward over Plax) but really Wallace kind of made the decision for them by being a pain in the ass with negotiations (not that I really blame Wallace for wanting to get as much money as the market dictated, and he proved that he - or more likely his agent - was right). I don't think anybody at the time realized that AB was ten times the player Wallace was. It just kind of worked out for us. I really hope Brown stays a Steeler for his whole career, and that whatever QB we get when Ben retires is good enough to help get AB into the HOF. I really do believe he has the heart, work ethic and ability to get there if circumstances break right for him. It's not just about statistical numbers (for me anyway) it's about the complete package.
