Denver Broncos top Dallas Cowboys as America's favorite team
The Denver Broncos have topped the Dallas Cowboys as the most popular NFL team, according to a Harris Poll asking fans to name their favorite team in early September.
Following a Super Bowl loss in February, Peyton Manning and the Broncos improved from third to first for the first time since the poll began in 1998. Denver has seen its popularity increase from a low-point of 17th in 2011 before Manning joined the team.
Despite their best start since 2007, the Cowboys dropped out of the top spot for the first time since 2006. They were ranked fourth. It is only the second time in 14 polls that Dallas has not finished either first or second.
The New York Giants finished second and the Green Bay Packers came in third, while the Pittsburgh Steelers round out the top five

Let's see, the Broncos have their fanbase and about half the Colts pre 2012 fanbase, so yeah makes sense. Still don't travel as well as Steelers fan

Let's all laugh as those numbers plummet after Peyton leaves.

I saw a lot of Bengals "fans" become Broncos "fans" when they signed Peyton.

Exactly. The most popular team would be the Raiders if they were 6-0. The Seahawks if they would've beaten Dallas. Casual fans don't like losers. What's fun about being depressed when you really don't give a shit about what's happening on the field anyways? It just an excuse to get drunk and pretend that you know Manning is the goat for a lot of people his time of year. Watch how many Cowboys fans are around when they get bounced from the playoffs come January.
