The people who want Tomlin gone don't want it because they "hate" Tomlin. They want it because they're realistic about Tomlin.

And if I were going to debate all these ex NFL players and ex coaches I wouldn't say a word. I would just bring in a big chart that would be totally blank except for the heading "All of Mike Tomlin's Playoff Wins in the Last Seven Years". And that would kick their asses.

But he can’t win a playoff game…lol. He takes these lesser teams to the playoffs and just can’t win with them. Oh my!!!!!

I'm sure you know more than hall of fame players and coaches. They would be speechless with your profound argument.

It's not nothing. At some point it has to translate into success.

If the Steelers even make the playoffs this season, Tomlin just further pushes his name into the Hall of Fame and pretty much writes a master class on how to handle a QB room.

I know enough that the only real way to judge a head coach is by his record.

We'll see. So far his track record of handling a QB room that doesn't have Ben in it hasn't exactly been the stuff of legend.

Trubisky is the only QB who has a losing record with a minimun of 2 starts under Tomlin...The rest is either .500(Delvin Hodges) or have a winning record like Landry Jones,Dennis Dixon,Kenny Pickett,Mason Rudolph,Michael Vick,Charlie Batch,of course Ben and maybe other I forget

That is incredible. I suspect no other coach could make that claim.

Impossible. Tomlin is not a good coach!

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like Tomlin and the whole team are just different this year. Feel like I'm looking and listening to a different Mike Tomlin. I'm not just talking about the quarterback situation of course that's different. It just seems like different attitude from the team this year. I wonder if it's the Omar Khan effect. The whole team just seems refreshed.

The defense certainly seems more refreshed in not spending 35 minutes a game on the field. I don't know what their average time has been but it seems like that's close. That falls in line with polamalub's quote.

    Yep

Also Corliss Waitman having net punt averages of 50+ in the Chargers game was huge.

It is the first time 4 years that they are not a one sided team. For several years it was on the defense to do everything and make zero mistakes. One mistake and the game was lost. That can wear on anyone. It is impossible to be perfect every single play. Knowing that anything besides absolute perfection would be a loss....I think it just wore everyone out.

An example from the Chargers game. The TD to Johnston. The play call kinda didn't work. Porter broke hard on the underneath route. Johnston is open in the hole between the CB and FS and Herbert hits him for a TD. Previous seasons, that's basically it. Game over. This year....no big deal.

Doesn't seem like it should have to be THAT Herculean of a task just to make the playoffs at this point. They have one of the best defenses in the league. That alone could do it.

At the beginning of this season everyone had the Steelers at the bottom of the AFC North and pretty much a bottom dweller for 2024. Still a lot of time to get there but it looks like it would be difficult.

??? Entire QB room is new including reclamation project Justin Fields. Long way to go still but this has been a great start. Add up all the new pieces on this team between players and coaches. That has taken some work to get to 3-0. And it should be noted.

I guess when fans are just used to winning it's not impressive.

We're not talking about winning a Super Bowl or even winning a playoff game. Just making the playoffs when there are now 7 spots.

Staying mad for 2 decades into a HOF coaching career because Tomlin isn’t Bill Cowher or Russ Grimm requires contorting logic a great deal.

It's just that some fans are always negative and will always find something to criticize. That way if things go south they can play the I told you so card.

One big reason for that is, unlike last year, they're occasionally making a play on 3rd down that gets them off the field.

Yeah, because the QB the last two years never made any clutch drives at the end to win the game.

Justin Fields says Pittsburgh's coaching is so much better than his time in Chicago.
Everything is relative. Didn't JuJu say that KC's coaching was so much better than his time in Pittsburgh?
