*He was the only SuperBowl MVP to not attend the pregame walk (was it XL or L or both???), because he wanted to be paid an appearance fee.

Both Montana and Bradshaw allegedly blew off the introduction of SB MVPs before XL due to disputes over an appearance fee

    http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/columnist/lopresti/2006-02-07-montana-bradshaw_x.htm

Since the Steelers were playing that year no surprise Bradshaw did not want to be there

Bradshaw and Montana both showed up for the MVP introductions last year at SB 50

Maybe the NFL upped the amount it paid

    Re: FIRE MIKE TOMLIN!!

Bradshaw was a great player and I have great respect for his contributions to the Steelers as a player. But as a person he's always been a big effing baby and a phony. Years ago my wife's aunt worked on some sort of project with Terry with Enron). Knowing I was a big Steeler fan she offered to get me an autographed football from Terry. I told her no thanks not interested. Two incidents relegated Terry to my forever doghouse. First and foremost blowing off "The Chief's" funeral. Whatever slights Terry had to endure in Pittsburgh Art Rooney always had his back. He treated Terry like a son. He called him the Blond Bomber. And while Art wouldn't undermine the coaches he was always there offering his support for Terry. For Terry to blow off that man's funeral spoke volumes about his character or lack thereof. The second thing was having his then television partner Vern Lunquist act as his presenter at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Recently Lunquist was asked when he last spoke to Bradshaw. He said he couldn't remember, but that it had been years. The point being he wasn't really ever that close to him. This isn't meant to be a knock on Lunquist. In fact I like Vern quite a bit. The point is Terry is too small a man to have had a Steeler teammate or coach present him. He completed separated himself from his teammates because they mostly stayed neutral in his unrequited war against Chuck Noll, the Steelers organization and the city and fans of Pittsburgh. Terry can't tolerate anything other than unconditional love and support. And even then it's only good as long as you're doing him good. ( see Art Rooney) His former teammates mostly roll their eyes if you ask them for an honest character assessment of Bradshaw. That's pretty much all you need to know about the guy.

I enjoy his "country bumpkin" schtick somewhat, and I do find him entertaining, but he has always come across ungrateful for his time as a Steelers player. In some ways, I can understand it. I'd hate to go into my home stadium and see effigies of me being hung. On the other hand, his teammates and the Rooneys had no part in that. To treat them the way he has is simply sad.

My biggest problem with Bradshaw is he couldn't take criticism... but then criticizes others for a living. I can't think of a bigger hypocrite.

Also how is Tomlin a cheerleader? He has a doghouse and players go in it and are soon off the team. Tomlin is a no BS coach and conducts himself very well other than tripping Jacoby and whining about the Pats comms in the media.

On the field clock management and personnel decisions are my only issue with Tomlin. Now that Tomlin doesn't have a team with a glaring weakness for years: OL>ST>secondary... I appreciate him a lot more as a HC. And I know our ST has been subpar but not catastrophic like it has been at times under Tomlin.

He had a legitimate beef. If they're such hot shit on a silver platter as a team, then maybe they should cut out the bullshit "gamesmanship" already.

"As Tomlin has gotten more away from Cowher's players, his teams have gotten worse"-Mark Madden

Well, for the 3rd consecutive year, Tomlin's team has gone farther than the previous year

I won't even give them that. Harrison hardly played under Cowher. He became a starter when Tomlin came in. Harrison may have played himself into the Hall Of Fame these last two years. I think he was a no go when he first retired, but the attention he's getting for such a high level of play at age 38 is going to push him over the top.

    Re: FIRE MIKE TOMLIN!!

Two thoughts for the anti-Tomlin crowd.

    1. Anyone else notice what he did during the injury timeout after Davis' hit on Conley? He absolutely coached the hell out of Sean Davis. Spent almost the entire time with Lake talking to Davis. Had to be telling him to not lose focus, etc. Then about what, 3-4 plays later? Kid makes the play to win the game? But Tomlin SUCKS AT DA COACHING CAUSE HE DOESNT SPIT AND YELL LIKE DA CHIN DID!!!! DUUURRRRRRR!

    2. Mark Madden and others like to keep trotting out the less Cowher players = worse Steelers record = Tomlin stinks. But that defense is totally Tomlin's now. We can even leave Harrison out of the discussion. Almost every single other player is a guy that Tomlin had a hand in getting on the roster. Additionally, Cowher would've never even thought of building an offense like the Steelers have now. MAYBE if Chan Gailey would've been around to knock some sense into him...

Can't it be that they are both really really good coaches and have different styles?

    Exactly.

Too many people just think of press conference Tomlin, or celebration Tomlin after big plays. They don't see the interactions that often occur between him and the players, and the coaching that is going on specific to moments in games.

The example you bring up is an excellent one.

I know...I know.....some will never see it or acknowledge it.

Why can't people just admit it when they're WRONG?

Note to race-baiter extraordinaire Whitlock: I think it's a really safe bet that Tomlin doesn't give a flying fuck what you say about him, numbnuts.

Cowherd has had to eat a big pile of STFU after Dabo Swinney shut his ass up.

It's a shame that we couldn't get better replays of Davis' play on the 2-pt. It was the game defining play and NBC gave us a quick long view and moved right along. It looked like a great great athletic play.

The Steelers will often be an up and down team in the first half of a season, but they will often be at their best in the second half of the season(16-1 in the last 17 games in december)

Having adversity in a season is often a good thing and one of the reasons why the steelers are in the AFC title game this year, which was not the case in 2014 and 2015 is that our best players to offense are healthy in the playoffs!
