He had the best offensive line in football, handed the ball off to some of the best running backs ever, had two of the best wide receivers in the history of the NFL.....maybe the best pair ever, had the greatest defense ever..............and hated being judged and criticized by others.

Yet here he is all these years later........making millions of dollars criticizing other people.........including the current coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers...........for being more of what he probably hoped Noll would have been while he was the quarterback of the same franchise.

    Life is stranger than fiction.

I agree with what you stated. But...can you say you totally disagree with everything Bradshaw said ? I mean to me, as good of a record Tomlin has had, he really should have a better one given his talent. He is not a good in game manager. He wastes TO's like Crazy. He has on several occasions not prepared his team for what should be easy foes with bad records. And as a disciplinarian he is terrible. Even Stevie Wonder can see that. But, the bottom line in all this is...Scoreboard! And Tomlin's record in these 10 seasons is still very Impressive. And Terry needed to acknowledge that.

When Bradshaw turns around in what appeared to be the same segment and proclaim Mike McCarthy to be a "great" coach who should be retained over Aaron Rodgers if it came to a choice between the two, I personally find his opinion to be questionable.

And I agree there as well. Mike McCarthy in his time is no better then Tomlin. There records are comparable. Each has won a SB, and one can say that McCarthy has been in a worse overall division then Tomlin has been in, so Tomlin has faced better teams. Look, overall I don't agree with everything Bradshaw said. But a few points, he was correct on.

Tomlin has his glaring weaknesses, I don't think his teams are always prepared, he'll lose a game it two he should win, and he'll keep a player a year longer than he should, but his teams more often than not handle adversity well, and he has assembled quite a young collection of talent, something he wouldn't be able to do if he was just a cheerleader

I tend to lean more to agreeing with Bradshaw. Tomlin is more of a cheerleader than a coach. He's a decent coach, but he's not a great one and if you had to make it black and white between coach and cheerleader, he's definitely a cheerleader. As for his comments on McCarthy, McCarthy is proving to be just as "bad" as Tomlin. He's nothing special...lol. It's funny what winning and losing does to how good or bad a coach you are...lol.

Bradshaw is a media troll. Says stuff just to keep himself relevant. I hope it fires the players up to go out and win one for the gipper.

Without making a list, I'd put Tomlin around 5-6 of best coaches. Anybody have him higher or much lower?

I think that's where I'd go with this. I'm hard pressed to come up with more than a few guys that are much better. Easy to think of folks that are much much worse.

    Re: FIRE MIKE TOMLIN!!

I don't know where Tomlin ranks among NFL coaches. So much of that is dependent on the organization, the GM and the talent that is brought into the system, and a ton of unmeasurables. To me, he is one of the best coaches in the NFL.

All I know is that Tomlin-coached teams improve as the year progresses, in spite of injuries, and young players continue to develop and improve. That is the true measure of a coach and his staff as to whether or not they are good at developing and teaching the game of football.

He is not perfect, but he continues to annually field a team that is able to overcome adversity and that continues to fight and improve. How many head coaches in the NFL can we make that claim about?

If you answer that question honestly, I think that nearly everyone would have a greater appreciation for what he does, and help them understand what his strengths are rather than focusing only on his weaknesses.

As long as he has Ben, he's "good".

    Re: FIRE MIKE TOMLIN!!

Steelers were a good team under Chin but we road that team into the wall. Our offense sucked and our defense was good but old and tired. The first objective was putting good players around Ben to create a winning offense which I think they did a good job. Then our defense needed a complete overhaul. That takes years to rebuild a team of both sides of the ball and Tomlin was able to do it without a single losing season. Our offense is top notch, and our defense is young but playing very well considering IMO. Tomlin isn't perfect and yes he makes mistakes like everyone but I do think he's a damn good coach and I'm happy to have him.

We could win another SB and some around here still wouldn't give him the credit due..

If it did happen, I suppose he would "graduate" from being another Barry Switzer to being another George Seifert.

You got to give him credit, his team never quits, and when their backs are against the wall, they push back

    Re: FIRE MIKE TOMLIN!!

Mitchell and (I think it was) Davis had a choreographed handshake celebration in the end zone on a drive that stopped the Ravens. If the refs see that, that's a potential penalty that keeps their drive alive. That's the kind of stupid play that Tomlin never seems to address. It drives me crazy...

I think Tomlin did a good job overall. I think most of the coaching staff did fairly well today.

I'm not a Tomlin fan, but Bradshaw must have a fumbled football rolling around in his head. He played for a great coach and didn't get along with him very well. There aren't that many *Great Coaches* out there. Tomlin isn't a great coach but Cowher wasn't either. I suppose Belichick could be considered great, but his CHEATING disqualifies him.

Still consider Tomlin the most overrated coach in the league. As long as Ben is here, he'll continue to bail him out

Well, that's kinda what franchise QBs are supposed to do, or so I thought. Besides, Ben's poor play for the majority of the game was a big reason they were trailing 20-10 in the 4th to begin with.

I will give Tomlin credit in that his locker room has NEVER devolved into a bunch of finger-pointing and infighting when things aren't going well (see Broncos the past couple of weeks), not even when they started 0-4 in 2013.

Wanna see a guy who's truly lost control of his locker room?

I think Tomlin told the D to allow the Ravens to score the go ahead TD with 1:20 left so BB would have enough time to score himself. Looks like that is a more common tactic in these days of wide open offense. Whoever has the ball last is who wins the game.
