Jesus this team is a total mess. Might as well hang it up till next year. Another 8-8 season where they get a middle bullshit pick and fuck it up

Just want to point out that if you do the math the conversions don't matter. They still lose because the defense couldn't stop Elliot and Witten. Not to mention the 2 tds taken off the board due to missed PI calls on Coates before the half and AB early in 2nd half.

Someone wants to get around those issues I'm on board. Rest is just loud noises to try and sound the most pissed.

You don't know that those points don't reshape parts of the game...ultimately if you want to add them on to the end of the game, sure it doesn't matter, but we are all smart enough to know that that's not how it works. Those points would change the game flow...maybe not by a lot, but it would.

Then there's the stupid gameplay...continues week after week...

Exactly as I said in the game thread. Dallas would score a TD and the media would absolve Tomlin of his idiot decisions. It changed the entire dynamic of the game

I'm still scratching my head at the field-goal attempt before the half. Surely someone on that sideline knew the probability of throwing it in the end zone and either getting a TD or a penalty was greater than actually making it from 55 yards.

Someone needs to walk me through how the PATS change the game?

As I said elsewhere, Dallas' offense for 9 weeks now has been a high does of Elliot and then passes to Beasely and Witten. Which of those things did the Steelers stop? None.

They change the game flow. A 13-13 game is different than a 12-13 game. A 17-13 game is different than a 15-13 game, the play calling will be different...playing tied or behind is going to be different than playing ahead. Would the result be different? Maybe, maybe not, but leaving points on the field and chasing points all game isn't really where you want to be as a team.

Tomlin sucks. I know you love him, but the guy sucks. He's coached very talented teams to mediocrity.

    2007: Lost 3 out of 4
    2009: Lost 5 in a row
    2012: Lost 5 out of 6
    2013: Lost 4 in a row
    2016: Lost 4 in a row

Blame injuries, draft picks, bad coaching but those are the facts. Tough pill to swallow.

There are only a few teams that allow this to happen on a consistent basis. Pretty much Cleveland, Jacksonville, and us

This team will never sniff a SB again with the current crop of idiots running the show.

Colbert. You can't hit 2 out of 7 draft picks every year and expect to field a good team.
Tomlin. He has the common sense of my 6 year old. It's almost like he goes out of his way to invent new ways to blow a game.
Haley. He's the least of the problems, but for the love of God, if I know what play is coming sitting on my couch, you think defensive coordinators know too?
Butler. you can't polish a turd, and this D is pure shit. But he has done absolutely nothing to help them be even competitive. Guys constantly out of position, zero pass rush, 15 yd cushions, no blitzes, etc, etc.

And last but not least, the Rooneys for assembling this team of clowns. And worse, sticking with them through hell or high water

If it weren't for Ben or someone above average Mike Tomlin doesn't win 1/3 the games

That's bullshit. Once the Cowboys were in makeable fg range the Steelers defense has to try to force the issue, get overly aggressive and force a turnover or get a tackle for loss or sack. When you overplay you're more susceptible to missing tackles of assignments and giving up a big play. You really effing think that a 4 or 5 point lead as opposed to a 1 point lead in that situation isn't huge? Quit being such a Tomlin lapdog! Yeah I can deal with the first one (missed 2 point conversion) but after that you can't keep chasing that point. You risk digging a deeper and deeper whole, until you end up costing your team it's best chance to win a game.

After Harrison's comments, I feel like Tomlin is losing the team.

Could not agree more...Tomlin was stubborn as usual and got caught up chasing the points.

    FIRE MIKE TOMLIN!!

Said this in another thread as well...IMO, this game is a huge tell of whether Tomlin has control of this team or if he's lost it. After Deebo's comments, I feel like Tomlin is on the brink of losing this team. Coming from someone else it may not mean so much, but coming from Harrison, it means a lot...

If they win, then its status quo. If they lose, it's game over and Tomlin lost control,

I get what you're saying, which was "If our defense can't stop our opponent's offense, then missing the 2-pt conversions is just an incidental problem subjective to this game only," so I'll defend you by saying you're right, our defense cannot be relied upon in the playoffs, or to even get us there.

Exactly. Someone should tell Tomlin that at Heinz Field the NFL long is 52 yards and you better not bet on Boz topping that. With Ben most times the Hail Mary will be a better option... which is why I don't get why they didn't let him throw it in the endzone on the last play.

Mike Tomlin is not going anywhere (yet) according to P-G Steelers reporter Ray Fittipaldo

It's on the head coach and all of his assistants to get it fixed and they are running out of time. That doesn't mean Tomlin is getting fired, but we could look back on this stretch a year from now or two years from now when there is a change and mark this as the beginning of the end. I admit that is possible.

But in terms of having credible sources within the coaching staff for the Rooneys to evaluate what the problems may be, Fittipaldo adds this nugget

One interesting aspect of this season is Danny Rooney, the 27-year old Dartmouth grad, being a member of the coaching staff for the first time this season. Art II is a frequent visitor at practice and is very involved. But Danny knows everything that's going on throughout the day. I wonder what those private conversations are like between father and son away from the facility when some of these questionable coaching decisions are criticized. Things such as a low percentage onside kick vs. Baltimore or the two-point conversion fiasco.

I'm not trying to pick on you specifically, but the "rules" for kicking at Heinz field have changed. They closed the open end zone last year and now it is not the swirling nightmare that everyone thinks it is.

    http://triblive.com/sports/steelers/...field-steelers

Boz kcked 3 from 55 or longer at Rice and 13 from beyond 50.

Here he is drilling a 55 yarder in practice - http://pit.247sports.com/Bolt/WATCH-...-goal-46180135

We can rally find a ton about this team to complain about without inventing things. I send Boswell out there every single time and so do most NFL coaches.

I agree. That's why I don't get why people were saying that it was a bad decision to try the 55 yarder and instead they should've thrown a Hail Mary. Boz can make those kicks and I actually expected him to make it. He had plenty of distance.
