Harrison joins an illustrious fraternity who realized their time had not yet come

James Harrison's decision to return to the Steelers, just 18 days after he stood at a podium in the team's South Side offices, wearing a suit and tie and formally announcing his retirement, is nothing new in the NFL.

It has been happening for years, in many cases with some of the league's greatest players. It has even happened before with the Steelers.
Brett Favre, Deion Sanders, Reggie White and John Riggins are among the players who said they had retired -- Favre more than once-- and then returned to the league to play for several more seasons.

Hall of Fame center Mike Webster held a retirement news conference at Three Rivers Stadium after the 1988 season and ended up playing two more seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.........

Hope he can get that 'cat' smell off of him.

If he would have kicked his agent in the ass, he would have remained a Steeler. He'd probably would have made more if he took the pay cut last year, now he is on vet min.

No, the Steelers lost 3 defensive starters in one game and were desperate. Otherwise, he'd still be retired.

That's what brought him back, but I don't think Tomlin or LeBeau would cut him if he still had a contract. We probably would not have signed Moats.

I agree with BOTH of you. If he would have kicked his agent to the side, he would have remained a Steeler and really wouldn't have lost any money. But, since he did leave the Black/Gold he found out he screwed up and no one wanted an old LB and luckily for him we had injuries and an opening. If there were no injuries, there would have been no openings, and therefore he'd still be retired watching the TV and eating pizza on Sunday's. ( and wondering where in the hell that 'cat' smell is coming from !)

What? Did Troy, Ike and Brett K pick him up in LeBeau's black SUV at his house?
