Roger Goodell is powerful. He is connected. He has unlimited resources at his disposal. He can make things happen. He didn’t do his job. He failed in epic proportions. This will tarnish his legacy. He will instruct the NFL to react and go full-throttle in changing people’s view of the league’s position on domestic violence. They will probably start to throw money at charities helping battered women. That’s fine. It’s expected. It’s the right thing to do. But at this point it doesn’t feel genuine. It’s what politicians do. Make the people feel better and move on.
