    James Harrison

    13 mins · Scottsdale, AZ ·

I have made the difficult decision to retire as of today. My love for my family and the need to be there for them outweighs my desire to play the game. I have missed too many experiences with them because I devoted SO much time to my career. My love for the game isn't strong enough to make up for missing one more birthday or first day of school. I am retiring as a man who is truly grateful for all of his blessings. I am sincerely thankful to the people who have supported me over the years, first and foremost my family, the Rooney family and my Steeler family, also Mr. Brown, the Bengals organization and fans, and last but FAR from least, Steeler Nation. Thank you.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers retirement happened....Mr. Rooney has a soft spot for "Jimmy".

If Kordell gets to retire as a Steeler, it will happen for Deebo. There's no question the Rooneys will let him do that.

    ^ This.

Truly a class act. Lambert is my favorite ( his jersey is my Sunday wear ritual), but James style of play before all the fines runs a close 2nd. The only bad page in my book for Harrison is seeing him in that damn bunghole jersey ! I just never thought I'd witness him in another uniform. Sorry James, but when I think of you now that vision pops up......ugh ! I always wanted you to retire as a Steeler. But thanks for all the year's you gave for the ' Nation ' and the memories. Sit back now and enjoy your life, family and Sunday football !! God bless ya' ..............

You never want to be the man who replaces the man.

James did this and he did it in such a way that the Steelers went from one the most feared LB'er (Joey Porter) to the next most feared LB'er (James Harrison) without missing a beat. Thank you James you traveled a long road to get there but you are and will always be remembered as a Great Steeler LB'er.

Can't say anything about him that hasn't already been said. A freak of nature on the field who took over games by himself. He was a Raven Killer.

I wish he could unretire for one day, come back to Pittsburgh and retire a Steeler.

He deserves to retire as a Steeler because he was the best LBer we had at the time even though he was the worst at contract negotiating skills and long snapping..
