The information that he is expected to be charged is still coming from the lawyer of the guy suing the Pouncey brothers. No news is from the DA or police. It could be that they do get charged or it could be that he is looking to keep it in the news in an effort to pressure a settlement.
I just realized that's the mobile link because I'm on my phone. Here's the regular link in case anyone prefers that:

“I guarantee you there won't be a charge today,” Ed Griffith, a spokesman for the State Attorney's Office, told the Herald's Adam Beasley. “We will be reviewing all of the evidence from the police, as well as any evidence presented by attorneys of the related parties.”
Jeff Ostrow, the Pounceys' attorney, said Thursday, "From what we've discovered, the evidence supporting the battery claims is flimsy, at best."
Meanwhile, Beasley notes that since the charge would be a misdemeanor there are limits as to what the police can do. " For instance," Beasley writes, "they won't go after Pouncey, a center for the Pittsburgh Steelers, while he's in Pennsylvania. However, he would have to deal with the issue whenever it is he returns to South Florida."
Nothing like convicting a man before there's even an actual charge filed against him. Reading most of the comments on the various forums regarding this makes you seriously wonder about the IQ of the average NFL "fan".
Um, let's see, Rice get's 2 games suspension for hitting a women.....what could Pouncey get for a good ole' bar fight ? Gonna be interesting.
How convenient that the Pouncey who signed the big fat extension is the one who's talked about as the one being charged.
Speaking of.........What ever happened with the woman who worked at the hotel and accused Ben of sexual assault??
I read the comments while drinking a good beer.I actually think that it's funny how much hate some 'fans' have for anything related to the Steelers. There's one guy on PFT that posts the same stupid comment about the Steelers getting "Tebow'd out of the playoffs" on every single article about the Steelers. I think it's hilarious!

Didn't they end up settling that out of court? Basically she got paid to shut up and go away.
This.
and the fact that it's a misdemeanor if there's even a charge says a lot about the entire situation. This is why, regardless of whether he's innocent or not, an NFL player simply should not be out at four AM in a bar. Talk about putting a nice target on your back.
Yeah Ben had little choice even if he didn't do anything wrong. He had to get it all behind him, and writing the whacko a check was a better option than spending an offseason in a court room having ugly testimony flying around for the press to latch on to. Once the second false allegation was made against him Ben was basically screwed as far as the first accusation. There was no good option other than getting it behind him as quickly as possible.
The only way it could have made sense for Ben to fight it out in court would have been if he was retired from the game already.
"A man's got to know his limitations."
Part of me kind of hopes he gets suspended for more games than Rice just to see what kind of clever justification you come up with to defend the Solomon-like wisdom and conscience-driven fairness of Saint Goodell.
Just kidding. As entertaining as that conversation would be, I'd rather have Pouncey on the field.
How are they going to prove it was Maurkice and not Mike?
Honestly, I think there won't be any charges filed. First off, his story has already changed once. It went from the Pouncey brothers beating him up to just Maurkice. Of course, he changes his story after Maurkice Pouncey signs a contract extension and after realizing that Mike Pouncey was either on crutches and if he wasn't on them was in no physical condition to be in a fight.
Also, bouncers don't just beat the hell out of people. It's a common misconception today that bouncers are just thugs getting a paycheck to beat people up. Back in the day that was true, and at some slummy bars that is likely still true. But bouncers don't want to get charged with assault, and bars/clubs don't want to get a reputation for patrons getting beat up because they had a disagreement with someone. However, bouncers are often big and burly because (1) it makes people think twice about starting crap when a guy who's 6'5"+ and 300+ pounds is the guy charged with dragging your ass out of the bar/club, (2) he has to have the physical ability to escort someone out of the bar/club if need be. Also, these days many bouncers are law enforcement officers working a second job, they can't just beat someone up, it impacts their regular job.
Like the story said, if charges are filed, they will be misdemeanor charges. Maybe this guy got in Maurkice's face, Pouncey shoved him aside, and a bouncer grabbed him and escorted him out of the bar. If so, that likely won't even warrant charges being filed.
I just hope the Pouncey brothers stop throwing a birthday bash after this. It gets advertised, which will damn sure bring out people looking to do something dumb in hopes of being able to sue, especially now that Maurkice Pouncey has gotten his big money second contract. And if you are going to, just rent a place out for the damn night. You've got the money to do so!
