Cast your mind back to Steelers linebacker-turned-coach Joey Porter.

It won't take long to envision Porter barking at Browns running back William Green. Or perhaps the story of him going on the Ravens bus challenging Ray Lewis to a fight.


He set the standard of the attitude for the Steelers' outside linebacker position.

James Harrison continued that legacy, cracking the collarbone of a trespassing fan and most running backs and quarterbacks who made the mistake of holding the ball. The opposite of Porter, Harrison didn't talk nearly as much as Porter, but Harrison laid waste to the Ravens' offense and special teams in a 38-7 win in 2007..........

You know, whether or not the author is right, I've gotta say I liked the article. It stirred emotion in me, like this could really be a defining moment in the new era of Steelers raw nastiness. It gave me hope. It never hurts when you bring up names like Porter, Ward, and Harrison to remind of the toughness and intimidation factor we possessed not that long ago. If Blount, and the return of Porter as a coach, can help bring that back then I will be quite pleased. I'd love to think back on this article and wonder if this was indeed that little spark that brought together a new band of brothers: tough, nasty, and fearless.
