If anybody was even confused about how valuable Dan Rooney has been to the club, read his book. I know it is an autobiography, but he lays out the structure of how the Dynasty was created and who was influential.

I wonder how many of Bill Austin's players were actually starting in 1972. Not a whole lot of names that anyone remembers. I know Frenchy was pre-Noll (but we had Franco as the featured back in '72). Andy Russell was pre-Noll, right? Those might be the only 2 I've heard of, but I'll admit it was before my time.

I guess technically Rocky Bleier was drafted pre-Noll but he was in Vietnam when Noll took over and then brought back.

    Sam Davis
    Rocky Bleier
    Ray Mansfield
    Bobby Walden
    Andy Russell

It was before my time too but Noll gutted that team, thank God. He had to endure 3 losing seasons before the '72 season, though. Truly rebuilding years in 69-71.

Frenchy was picked in 69 so he was a "Noll guy"
