Oh, I will be watching, and having a blast doing so. I am over in Germany right now so I definitely plan on heading to a German bar to watch the USA take on Deutschland.

It is going to be fun, and even though Jurgen Klinsmann is getting shit over leaving Landon Donovan off the team (and he does deserve shit for it) he was one of the best players in the world and he knows what it takes to go deep in the tournament. Unfortunately for the American squad, they are in the group of death and will need at least one upset to make it to the elimination rounds.

    LOL + Agreed.

I had a tendency to drop my shoulder against the superior players.

    They didn't respond well.

    Nor did the refs...

Italian by heritage. Would be nice to see an upstart team win this one. Argentina should do well.

    Re: World Cup Soccer

USA won a huge game last night against a Ghana team that always gives them fits. The USA squad is in the drivers seat now to make it to the second round, all they need to do is tie or beat either Germany or Portugal (no easy feat). Plus, with Portugal getting spanked by Germany the US could end up advancing based on goal differential.

Game didn't start until midnight here in Germany, so I got to see the first half of the match, but couldn't stay awake for the exciting second half. Stupid time zones!

Chile 2 - Spain 0, almost at the half. This world cup has had a lot of surprises, well, at least a lot more than usual.

    Re: World Cup Soccer

England and Spain both eliminated in the opening group stages. Never saw that one coming, I had both of them advancing out of the opening group stages and moving on.

Hopefully USA can beat Portugal and then make the game about Germany not all that important because they will have already qualified for the second round. If the USA has to rely on beating Germany to advance, it will be a short World Cup for the American squad because at almost every position Germany has the advantage. But, like has been mentioned before, this world cup has had a lot of surprises.

The word of the day is...

    ASS!!!!!!

USA and Portugal tied 2-2 today, with Portugal scoring a goal with about 20 seconds left in extra time. That may as well be a loss for the US, because now they have to beat Germany to advance, and, well, good luck with that. They blew their chance, IMO.

They just need a tie to advance(or a tie or loss for the Portugal,I think)

Win or tie, they are in. They can lose to Germany, but must keep it close. They have a +5 goal differential against Portugal I think, so as long as that goal differential holds up they will advance with a lose to Germany. They way Ghana is playing, and also the way the US is playing, I think the US keeps it very close and they advance out of the group of death.

Thank you Germany for crushing Portugal in the first game.

Despite a 1-0 loss to Germany the U.S. squad advances to the next round of the World Cup. Unfortunately, it looks add though they will be playing Belgium. You never know, they could win, stranger things have happened this World Cup.
