Steelers OTAs: Beachum a proven asset

PITTSBURGH – Though he’s another year older and wiser, Kelvin Beachum’s cherubic face remains largely the same as it did a year ago.
His boyish looks suggest he perhaps took a wrong turn out of Pitt’s portion of the UMPC Sports Performance Complex but, make no mistake, Beachum has shown over the last two years that he indeed belongs on the Steelers’ half of the facility.
At 25 years of age, Beachum is considered a grizzled veteran. Well, at least as much as one can be with 17 NFL starts under his sizable belt.
A season ago, Beachum proved to be one of the Steelers’ better, if not more versatile, linemen. He started a dozen of the 15 games he played in at both tackle spots and tight end. After wresting the starting job away from 2012 second-round pick Mike Adams, the offensive line finally seemed to come around when Beachum settled in at left tackle.
