Mitchell: 'I am loving the scheme'

In mid-March, as he stood in front of the gathered media for his introductory press conference, new Steelers’ safety Mike Mitchell talked about why he signed with the Steelers and how he fits in with the physical style of football the team plays.

“The brand of football that the Steelers are about and they play is very hard-nosed, physical and smash-mouthed,” said Mitchell in March. “I think my personality and the way that I play just meshes perfectly with what we are trying to do here.”

Fast forward to today. With OTA sessions now under his belt, and a chance to get a true introduction to the defense, he likes it more and more every day................

Hearing Mitchell talk this way is a nice reminder that we really have something special in coach LeBeau. Not only is he one of the most innovative defensive minds of our time, he has that special quality that just makes want to go out and kill for him. Mitchell just stepped through the doors and is already feeling it.

Plus, I like all the things I'm hearing from Mitchell. He just seems like a Steeler through and through.

I was very impressed watching the videos from Mitchell, Moats and Lance Moore. All of them seem very mature and leader like.

But wait ... isn't it supposed to take him 2 or 3 years minimum to understand the defense? There's no way he starts for us before 2016. That's why we signed him.
