Muslim in Chief exchanges 5 terrorists for one deserter.

Wow, you can't make this shit up. Looks like Muslim in Chief (aka President Obama) released five of the most dangerous terrorist's in the world in exchange for a deserter with strong Taliban leanings.

And in his very obvious attempt to divert attention from the VA SNAFU, has also effectively put a bull's eye on the back of every American serviceman/woman abroad by sending the message that we will negotiate with terrorists.

I saw this in the Post-Gazette when I was standing in line at the grocery store today. Really, why should this surprise anyone? Obama is into his 2nd term and will be out of office in 19 months. Why should he give a shit about what anyone thinks? He'll just do whatever he wants, because he knows he still has plenty of sycophantic leftist followers, the ever-present race card in his back pocket, and absolutely NO threat of impeachment.

Bowe Bergdahl: a darker story behind the release of America's last prisoner of war
America celebrates the release of a young soldier who allegedly abandoned his post after growing disillusioned with the war in Afghanistan

But behind the scenes of small town celebration is a darker and more complicated story about a young soldier who allegedly abandoned his post after growing disillusioned with America's wars and the potentially illegal deal struck by the White House to free him.
Bowe Bergdahl was raised in a cabin with no phone in Idaho's Wood River Valley, a sparse and rugged corner of the American west. He and his sister were home schooled by their father, Bob Bergdahl, an intense woodsman who trained them to shoot and survive in the wild.
For the last five years, Mr Bergdahl has been a tireless campaigner for his son's release, at times lashing out in frustration at President Barack Obama and even trying to contact the Taliban directly on his own.
Sgt Bergdahl is reportedly struggling to speak English after five years in captivity and his father caught Mr Obama's aides offguard on Saturday when he began to speak Pashto before the television cameras at the White House.

"These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid," he wrote in an email to his parents on June 27, 2009.
Three days later, according to Rolling Stone, the 23-year-old soldier simply walked off his base in Patika province, carrying a knife, his diary and a small camera.
He was captured almost immediately and - despite a frantic search by US troops, drones and helicopters - smuggled into Pakistan by Taliban fighters.
A Pakistani militant commander told AFP that Sgt Bergdahl engaged with his captors, teaching them how to play badminton and inviting them to celebrate Easter and Christmas with them.
He also reportedly grew fond of kawa, an Afghan green tea, helped with the cooking and became fluent in the Afghan languages of Pashto and Dari.

Republicans, meanwhile, have erupted in anger over the White House's decision to release the Guantánamo detainees in secret and without informing Congress.
US law states that the President must give members of Congress 30 days notice before transferring detainees out of the controversial prison base.
Senator John McCain, himself a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, also raised concerns over whether the tiny state of Qatar could prevent the former prisoners from again threatening the US.
"These are the hardest of the hardcore, these are the highest of the high risk people," Mr McCain said. "It's disturbing that these individuals would have the ability to re-enter the fight."

Bergdahl’s dream was to help Afghan villagers rebuild their lives and learn to defend themselves, his dad told the magazine.
“The whole ‘COIN’ thing,” Bob explained, referring to America’s strategy of counter-insurgency. “We were given a fictitious picture, an artificially created picture of what we were doing in *Afghanistan,” the dad said.
Bowe Bergdahl would detail his disillusionment with the Afghanistan campaign in an e-mail to his parents three days before he went missing.
“I am sorry for everything here,” he wrote. “These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid.”
Bergdahl also complained about fellow soldiers. The battalion commander was a “conceited old fool,” he said, and the only “decent” sergeants, planning to leave the platoon “as soon as they can,” told the privates — Bergdahl then among them — “to do the same.”
“I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools,” he concluded. “I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting.”
Bob Bergdahl responded in an e-mail: “OBEY YOUR CONSCIENCE!”
One night, after finishing a guard-duty shift Bowe Bergdahl asked his team leader whether there would be a problem if he left camp with his rifle and night-vision goggles — to which the team leader replied “yes.”
Bergdahl then returned to his bunker, picked up a knife, water, his diary and a camera, and left camp, according to Rolling Stone.

Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s recovery after five years in captivity has rekindled anger among some of his military peers over how he came to fall into enemy hands and the price the United States has paid to get him back.

Bergdahl, 28, is believed to have slipped away from his platoon’s small outpost in Af*ghanistan’s Paktika province on June 30, 2009, after growing disillusioned with the U.S. military’s war effort. He was captured shortly afterward by enemy *forces and held captive in Pakistan by insurgents affiliated with the Taliban. At the time, an entire U.S. military division and thousands of Afghan soldiers and police officers devoted weeks to searching for him, and some soldiers resented risking their lives for someone they considered a deserter.

Bergdahl was recovered Saturday by a U.S. Special Operations team in Afghanistan after weeks of intense negotiations in which U.S. officials, working through the government of Qatar, negotiated a prisoner swap with the Taliban. In exchange for his release, the United States agreed to free five Taliban commanders from the military detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The news was hailed by President Obama on Saturday as a sign of Washington’s “ironclad commitment to bring our prisoners of war home.” But the reaction from current and former U.S. service members was decidedly more mixed. Some said that although they were glad to see Bergdahl freed, he needs to be held accountable for his choices.

After he went missing, the military conducted an extensive search for Bergdahl. The plan was to create a blockade that would prevent his captors from taking him far from Paktika province, especially into Pakistan. The bulk of other operations were halted to focus on finding Bergdahl.

One Afghan special operations commander in eastern Afghanistan remembers being dispatched.

“Along with the American Special Forces, we set up checkpoints everywhere. For 14 days we were outside of our base trying to find him,” he told The Washington Post, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he is a member of a secretive military unit.

But U.S. troops said they were aware of the circumstances of Bergdahl’s disappearance — that he left the base of his own volition — and with that awareness, many grew angry.

“The unit completely changed its operational posture because of something that was selfish, not because a solider was captured in combat,” said one U.S. soldier formerly based in eastern Afghanistan who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the search. “There were military assets required . . . but the problem came of his own accord.”

The search in Paktika was eventually called off, after U.S. officials acknowledged that Bergdahl had been taken to Pakistan.

The details of the search for Bergdahl were explored in a long online comment that was posted a year ago beneath a 2012 Rolling Stone magazine profile of the missing soldier by the late journalist Michael Hastings. The text of the comment was distributed widely on social media after news about Bergdahl’s rescue broke. The comment attributed the deaths and woundings of several U.S. soldiers to the search for Bergdahl and asserted that the frequency of enemy ambushes and improvised explosive devices increased after he was gone.

At least they cancelled taliban day in Hailey.

Obama is Labeling American Troops As ‘Psychopaths’ For Telling Truth About Bowe Bergdahl!

Just when I thought Obama had disgraced this country and the office of potus enough he sinks even lower! An Obama administration press secretary suggested that U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl might have been justified in deserting his unit and battlefield post, partly because his platoon-mates might have been “psychopaths.”

Equally disturbing, is the fact that Obama has apparently ordered White House spokesmen to start spreading the notion that even if Bowe Bergdahl did desert, it may have been justifiable due to discord caused by other American soldiers in Bergdahl’s unit, particularly Bergdahl’s officers. The mere thought is reprehensible, and Obama dares to disparage the other American solders speaking up so he can cover his treasonous acts.

Many of Bergdahl’s former comrades are speaking up saying that Bergdahl deserted them in June 2009 and his actions are directly responsible for the death of at least 6 American soldiers who were sent out looking for him. Some of his former unit also say he collaborated with the local Taliban fighters to attack U.S. forces.

Brandon Friedman, a Democratic activist, a former Iraq and Afghan veteran and now a top public affairs official at the Department of Housing and Urban Development said Bergdahl might “be worthy of sympathy” for distrusting his leadership and for having “walked off,” said Friedman.

“Here’s the thing about Bergdahl and the Jump-to-Conclusions [commenters]: What if his platoon was long on psychopaths and short on leadership?” he tweeted late Wednesday.

White House and Pentagon officials have declined to release the formal investigation of Bergdahl’s desertion, but critical fragments are being leaked to reporters.

In closing … was Bergdahl worth this?

So really, why all the hand-wringing? Not a damn thing anyone says nor a damn avalanche of evidence that Bergdahl is a piece of shit will make any difference whatsoever. The left will defend anything - ANYTHING - that this man does, and hail wastes of skin like Bergdahl as a "heroes" as long as it fits their agenda. Obama could bomb a pre-school, then send Jihad Bergdahl in to rape all of their mothers, and they would STILL find a way to justify it. It's really not worth discussing, nor getting upset over. We simply have to run out the clock until he's finally out of office.

Re: Muslim in Chief exchanges 5 terrorists for one deserter.

It may come down to this. Obama knows he can't just release all the prisoners from Gitmo, but he needs them release in order to close it.

So assuming they are not putting any new prisoners there, he can come up with "good" reasons to release them, bit by bit, until sooner or later they are all gone and he can close the facility …. like he promised.

The idea that "Dems closed Gitmo" will go a loooong way in their voting base, regardless of the consequences.

Some 149 prisoners are held at Guantanamo Bay, with 78 approved for transfer to other countries and approximately 30 awaiting prosecution, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters this week. The rest, including the five sent to Qatar last week, were in a group unlikely ever to be prosecuted, according to Harf.

"Good" reasons like taking up yoga?

    Can't make this shit up.

Obama releasing 'reformed' Guantanamo prisoners for reasons including having taken up yoga and showing a 'positive attitude'

78 Guantanamo inmates have been cleared for transfer to their homeland or repatriation to another country if the U.S. can get required security assurances
Among them are three Yemeni men with close links to al Qaeda

Ghaleb Nasser al Bihani, 35, told a parole board that he's now a yoga-practising self-help book enthusiast

Mahmud Abd al Mujahid, 33, a suspected bin Laden bodyguard, wants to start a 'milk and honey farm' upon his release

Ali Ahmad al-Razihi, 33, is suspected of having been part of the 'Dirty 30' security detail around bin Laden
He says he plans to marry and help with his family's fruit and vegetable business

Following uproar over Bowe Bergdahl's release in exchange for five prisoners, several Republicans in Congress want to keep Guantanamo open
They plan to try and bar Obama from transferring any more prisoners

President Barack Obama is moving ahead with his push to close the Guantanamo Bay prison despite the uproar over the exchange of five Taliban prisoners for a captured American soldier, an administration official said Thursday.

The Periodic Review Board has determined that more former 'forever prisoners,' including one who says he has been reformed by practicing yoga and another who was a bodyguard for Bin Laden but now wants to start a 'milk and honey farm' are fit for release to their homelands or repatriation.

Ghaleb Nasser al Bihani, 35, told a parole board in April that he had read the biographies of Dr Martin Luther King Jr and the Dalai Lama and aspired to live 'an ordinary life.'

Intelligence compiled for the board described Bihani, a Yemeni, as a troublemaker in the prison who showed 'ill intentions to the U.S.' and was 'almost certainly' a trained former member of al-Qaeda whose own brothers were jihadists with the group, reports the Miami Herald.

His lawyer says that he was only an assistant cook for a group that was affiliated with the Taliban and no longer exists.
Slated for release: Ghaleb Nasser al Bihani is now a yoga practitioner who aspires to 'live a normal life' upon his release

Slated for release: Ghaleb Nasser al Bihani is now a yoga practitioner who aspires to 'live a normal life' upon his release

He suffers diabetes, says the lawyer, and needs medical care.

Bihani now practices yoga and reads self-help books, and wants to start a family when he is released, he told the board. He plans to distance himself from family members who are known to be extremists.

Mahmud Abd al Mujahid, 33, another Yemeni, has also been cleared for transfer.

According to the New York Post, his lawyer described the suspected Osama bin Laden bodyguard as 'a peacemaker' who 'requires no rehabilitation' when he is returned to Yemen.

A detainee who was called as a character witness told the board that Mujahid wants to start a milk and honey farm.

Mujahid told the board that as a child, 'we were taught politeness, respect and human being [sic].'

Ali Ahmad al-Razihi, 33, is suspected of having been part of what U.S. intelligence officials called the 'Dirty 30' security detail around bin Laden, a founder of al Qaeda who was killed in 2011 by U.S. forces in Pakistan.

He told the board that he plans to focus on returning to Yemen, marrying and helping with the family fruit and vegetable business
