Based on what I see as competitive opportunities, we will draft 3 on offense and 6 on defense.
WR, RB, TE and 2 CB, 2 DL, and 2 LB

good post , nice breakdown ..a few little things to consider for me is ...

    1) DHB ( if he makes the roster ) could be used as a returner he has done so in the past on a limited basis

    2) Moats can play inside / out so may change the amount of linebackers we carry if he does not win a starting job inside

We need a TE. I think we have to go into the draft thinking Miller won't make it through the entire season.

I think either Allen or Golden is a lock for the final roster. Even if they draft a safety, they seem to insist on finding a role for at least one of those players.

I read about a week ago that the Steelers were following Mettenburger's rehab very closely.

Mettenburger reminds me of Ben in many ways

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/p...h-mettenberger

on and off the field .....

if they draft a QB I will be surprised , would be throwing the towel in on last years rookie awful soon and no way Metts makes the PS he will be taken fairly early on IMO nor do I see them going into the season with no Vet QB on roster under Ben

    Re: Pre-Draft Roster....available spots

The only way that would happen is if they are already thinking Jones is not even close to what they thought he was. Even at that I think Mettenburger would go before they would want to take a QB. Still, I can see why they would be interested in Mettenburger. and you never know. Would be one of those draft day shockers, and we've never see that happen before, have we.

Jones was a project for our style of system from the onset , they had to have known that before selecting him ( we knew it ) but he has a very good arm .... I just can't see them giving up so soon ...

now if Metts doesn't pan out medically YET , and team know it he could drop and be great value on the shelf a year , but he should go in the 3rd round IMO and we just can not afford that kind of luxury at this stage of the game

isnt mettenburger projected as like a 3rd-4th round pick? If he's as good as the steelers believe, i dont think they should entertain the thought until MAYBE the 5th round if he slides

    Re: Pre-Draft Roster....available spots

The only way we would take him in the 3rd is if we got a trade down for an additional 3rd and the Steelers just feel in love with the guy. I would be biting my lip if that happened. 4th round, maybe, and I still don't know about that. To make a long story short, I don't really think we have to worry about Mettenbuger.

It is about the right time to start grooming someone if we want to do it right, like the Pack did for Rodgers... in the 4th Round, Mettenberger may be too tempting to pass up. Unless they still think Landry can be their heir...

    not Baptiste either ...

thing is it may not be in print ... it may end up being a radio interview , not sure yet working out details .... prefer print due to nerves , but site is pushing for it to be internet radio , all comes down to the prospect
