WR 40 times what they really mean

so many attribute success or lack of potential success based solely on 40 times and there is not bigger misconception about football and the passing game around IMO , many also think here are two guys both productive as collegiate's so I am going to take the guy who ran 4.35 over the guy who ran 4.47 because that speed is going to be the difference maker ( totally discounting the strength it takes to beat the jam and going for the sexy part of football and blatant speed )

I ran across this today and thought I would pass it along , it is very eye opening and something I have been watching for several years but never took the time to put it on paper like it is presented here ...

Speed and height are meaningless without good hands, i.e. Limas Sweed et al. Renaldo Nehemiah was a super fast Olympian who did nothing in the NFL.

Chris Carter & Hines Ward are two players that come to mind the were not known for their speed, but Carter had some of the best hands in NFL history and Ward was the toughest WR in NFL history with great hands.

You want to draft football types, not waste time Al Davis style trying to find talent from obscure places.

In a nutshell....you look for the WR who has game speed (usually more quick than fast) who runs great routes and has good hands. Speed and Height are frosting after that.

LOL...there is a LOT of truth to that. Lots of fast or tall WR's every year who are TERRIBLE route runners. Those "Al Davis" WR's are virtually worthless 95% of the time.

because he ran a 4.42 ( over 4.4 slightly but over ) and caught balls for less than 1k yards
