Steelers Universe Interview with Rice University Safety Paul Porras



I had the time to ask Paul a few questions as he prepares for his Pro Day and the 2014 NFL Draft. He was kind enough to share a little about himself.


SU: Paul, Tell us what your are doing to prepare for the upcoming draft. Where are you training and what is your routine.

PP: I'm training at CES Performance in Houston, Texas. Resistance training is one of the main focuses at CES. I train daily on combine specific drills and being more explosive.

SU: Tell us what attributes you possess that will an asset to whatever team drafts you.

PP: I'm a fast learner, a team player, a leader, I have a high football IQ, I'm optimistic, and I'm durable.

SU: Paul, who was the player that you idolized growing up and what player do you feel like can be compared to?

PP: Terrell Davis was my favorite player growing up. I like to pattern myself after versatile safeties, and John Lynch is one that I always admired.

SU: What is your greatest on-field memory or moment at Rice?

PP: Starting my first career college football game against UTEP my redshirt freshman year. I had 13 tackles and no one caught a pass on me.

SU: What is the off field accomplishment that you are most proud of?

PP: Being named to the Capital One Academic All District Team this past season.

SU: TD celebration...yes or no?

PP: Of course!

SU: Who is the current NFL Quarterback that you would love to sack or intercept?

PP: Cam Newton

SU: What is the best 40 you have ever ran?

PP: 4.56

SU: A couple of personal questions. What is something about Paul Porras that most people don't know?

PP: I'm an Eagle Scout

SU: If I took your IPOD, what would I find on it?

PP: Pretty much every genre of music. Rap, R&B, Dubstep, Country, Rock & Roll, Alternative.
