as starved as this league is for QBs who can WIN , a backup even a 3rd string job would be open someplace , but it is not because the teams do not want to deal with the media circus involved with Tebow on the roster and the rest of the teams do not want to deal with the fan base screaming for him to play when the starter stinks it up .... perhaps that is opinion but it is one that is widely believed by most of the football public and some " unamed teams " have even said as much
Any team asked about Tebow since the Jets released him last week have said they have no interest. It appears that not all of it is because of his questionable throwing accuracy.
“He seems like a great guy to have on a team, and I’d be tempted to bring him in as our backup,” an NFC head coach told Yahoo Sports.
“But it’s just not worth dealing with all the stuff that comes with it.”
Tebow not in the nfl because he sucks it has nothing to do with him being vocal about his beliefs, plenty of players are vocal about their beliefs and they have jobs. Also the league is full of guys with criminal records who manage to keep their jobs, would seem odd for the nfl to black list tim tebow. The nfl is trying to go for a clean accepting tolerant image why in the world would they want to keep tebow out of the league? He was the token little Christian white boy from Gainesville throwing passes with a halo above his head, he flat out doesn't have a contract because he sucks, patriots just had him in camp this past year and he couldn't make the third string.

Ya hes a circus why put up with it when he sucks, If he was good he would have a contract. Nfl teams will deal with distractions if the player is worth it, if he is not than they wont. That is plenty evident with the guys who constantly break the law but are superstars.
He's only a marginal talent. That's why they don't want to deal with the extra media attention. Besides, all of that media attention isn't going to be bad.
If he was any good, teams would be willing to put up with it.
I guess I should have read steeldawg's post before replying. He basically said the same thing.
that is the point of the original post that started this debate ..... NFL teams do not want to deal with the Tebow media circus , yet the same league that is distancing themselves from him is publicizing Sam ( who will create yet another media circus ) ..... Michael Sam is also just another marginal talent ......
I'm really not even sure why we're comparing Michael Sam to Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow was not the first openly Christian player in the NFL. Far from it. Michael Sam is getting publicity because he is the first openly gay player in the NFL. Any event that's a "first" gets a lot of attention, good or bad.
I'm sure that there will be teams that pass on drafting Michael Sam because they don't want the media attention. Other teams will pass on him because he doesn't fit what they're looking for in an NFL player
All players should be judged based on their talent for playing football in the NFL, not on their religious beliefs, skin color, sexual preference, etc.
Sams was very excited to be at the combine.
