    Re: Mock Draft Site

Speaking of Dee Ford, something I don't have the most keen eye for is transition players; he's a DE but I keep hearing he's going to be an OLB in the pros, but he seems like he could play some DE in our 3-4? If he somehow falls to us in the second how would you feel about him as opposed to someone like Tuitt

35-50 pounds to light to play DE in the 34 IMO

Ford is strictly a 4-3 DE or a 3-4 OLB. Tuitt fits our system because he is position versatile. He can play DE or DT depending on the scheme. Great size and long arms as a DE to stack blockers and allow our linbackers to flow through the gaps. Great power and anchor as a DT to collapse the pocket and get to the QB.

    Re: Mock Draft Site

Okay and while depth is always great, a backup OLB is the last thing we need to spend a day 2 pick on.

This draft has been really tough to become set in mind with a very specific group of players because there's just so much out there that could help the team. Even some of the players who aren't my favorite would go a long way for us. I feel like Tombert would have to try really hard to truly tick me off this year.

If we pick up an outside linebacker for depth....Ther is a chance that it may be in the form of James Harrison... after the draft.

I'm all for bringing back Silverback and the Beard.

Just wrote an article recently in which I suggested we may do just that.

    Re: Mock Draft Site

I have a strong gut feeling that they are going to bring in a tweener LB / safety to play a sub package role.

Sean Spence was originally brought in on that premise. If he doesn't recover they will know by the end of this season.

Players that have had contact with the steelers that fit this bill are:

    • Kevin Pierre Louis Boston College ( visit)

    6’1” 232lbs 4.51 40yd 28 reps @225 39” vert 10’8” broad 4.02 shuttle 6.92 3 cone

    • Nick Williams North Alabama ( visit)

    6’2” 217lbs 4.85 40 yd 18reps @ 225 34” vert 9’10” broad 4.38 shuttle 7.26 3 cone

    • Ahmad Dixon Baylor (combine interview)

    6’0” 212lbs 4.48 40 yd 14 reps @ 225 32” vert 9’3” broad 4.50 shuttle 7.55 3 cone

I am guessing the days of a true 3 down base ILB are going the ways of the leather helmets. Vince Williams on 1st and 2nd down combined with a cover LB for 3rd down or other packages.

Hell, Vince Williams college buddy and team mate Telvin Smith could fit that bill.

Kevin Pierre Louis is my pick

    Re: Mock Draft Site

    New draft:

Your score is: 4585 (GRADE: B+)

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 15: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State (A)
Round 2 Pick 14: Stephon Tuitt, DE, Notre Dame (A-)
Round 3 Pick 33 (COMP): Keith McGill, CB, Utah (B-)
Round 4 Pick 18: Daniel McCullers, DT, Tennessee (A)
Round 5 Pick 17: Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers (A)
Round 5 Pick 33 (COMP): Kevin Pierre-Louis, OLB, Boston College (A-)
Round 6 Pick 16: Tre Boston, FS, North Carolina (C+)
Round 6 Pick 39 (COMP): Marion Grice, RB, Arizona State (A-)
Round 7 Pick 15: Taylor Hart, DE, Oregon (B-)

I still believe we will double-dip at the CB position this year. McGill was still there at the tail end of the 3rd so I selected him as a consolation after barely missing on DaQuan Jones, Moncrief, Nicklas and CJF. Still got McCullers in the 4th.

I like this one a lot. Dennard is more or less ready to play, McGill will develop nicely, Tuitt is what we need across from Heyward and he can learn while the Beard has one last hurrah, and McCullers will probably work out if he lands in a 3-4. If we're willing to wait a bit on WR like in your draft here, we can breathe a heckton of life into the D.

I would like to see that...Troy has been playing that role for a few years and it would be nice to get him back into the outfield, where the QB's have to start worrying about him again.

How about a schedule day mock, Dwins? Stick an OT in on the 2 or 3 round.

Round 3 Pick 29 (N.E.): Christian Kirksey, OLB, Iowa (A)

Round 6 Pick 39 (COMP): Calvin Barnett, DT, Oklahoma State (B-)
Round 7 Pick 15: Richard Rodgers, TE, California (B-)

Scored well in-game, but thought I hit all the needs in general. Sankey was my BPA surprise choice, would make a fantastic 1-2 for Bell. Missed on my favorite DT prospects so I took Barnett in the 6th, but can't find much about him. Saw we were at the OK State pro day though (presumably for Gilbert).

yet another angle ..... loaded up on late round picks with potential to shine some of the grades where not the best but 2 weeks ago brett Smith in the 6th was a solid A now a C ...funny he hasnt played any games during that time lol ( proving mid/late round picks is as much about " Buzz" as talent )

Colt Lyerla one of the most talented TE in the draft if you can get passed him off field issues and why I am not really interested in him , but at that point in the draft foolish not to take a flier on him and hope you can mentor his off field behavior with a Vet team and leadership

from a player perspective its a solid draft , it just doesnt score like it should from a grade perspective and that is one of my biggest pet peeves with the site ....
anywhere in round 3 CJ. should be an A and under no circumstances less IMO he will be drafted no later than that pick point ( I see no way he makes it into round 4 ) and he could go late round 2 depends on how draft flows ... so how is that a B pick ?

guess its a pet peeve and may only bother me but had to get it off my chest .... and its not just CJ it is many IMO but such is life I guess lol

anywhere in round 3 CJ. should be an A and under no circumstances less IMO he will be drafted no later than that pick point ( I see no way he makes it into round 4 ) and he could go late round 2 depends on how draft flows ... so how is that a B pick ?

guess its a pet peeve and may only bother me but had to get it off my chest .... and its not just CJ it is many IMO but such is life I guess lol
It's not just you bud. I have picked Hoffman many times in the middle and late 6th round and have always gotten a D. How is it that he is a B in the 7th. Still,,,,, it's fun to play with.

He takes away the whole left side of the pocket. They'll call him Kony Island.
