Latrobe, Pa. — Downsize the 65,000 diehards chanting “here we go Steelers, here we go” with a volume that echoes far beyond the rivers that surround Heinz Field — to a couple thousand relaxed and respectively silent folks that line the hillside and bleachers along the practice fields at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe — and you have NFL summer camp!
Here, in this picturesque setting in the western Pennsylvania hills, fans get a chance to see their idolized athletes in a calm environment where joking, and the occasional rookie hazing, is the norm. From those that bleed black and gold, to the casual fan that just enjoys the game, Steelers Training Camp gives the spectator a whole new understanding and relationship not only with the team, but each individual that puts it all on the line for their entertainment throughout the fall and winter months.
