That was a bad play, but he got that fine on name alone. I guarantee you, any other player in the entire league not named Harrison, would get a $7,500 fine for that, tops - if they didn't just call the penalty and leave it at that.

Thing is, just like Harrison, I don't think Suh has earned the whole rap he got. Apart from stepping on that guy, which I can forgive because it was the goddamn Packers, the things he gets in trouble for basically look like a guy playing angry and too fired up for the new brand of football. That block he got fined for was a shitty play, but you'd have a hard time convincing me it was premeditated or anything. It was actually part of the play that was still going on, and he took it too far. As far as I'm concerned, slamming guys into the ground, making hits that are downright mean, a lot of the things he's been in trouble for - that's a fucking effective way to play football if you ask me.

That block was not intentionally a "dirty" hit, not from what I saw. You can't use the position of the ball carrier as an argument, Suh went to block a guy that was after the carrier.

Should he have NOT gone so low, maybe, but it's not like he had a choice to block high or low and chose low. He had a choice to either block or let the guy run free and he chose to block.

I think the criticism against Suh is a bit exaggerated.

I think you can he was out of the play and its illegal to block below the waist on a change of position, so not only was it dirty it was also against the rules.

I asked about that block in another thread. We see that exact same block being made several times a game by interior linemen. Yes, you're not allowed to make that block out in the open field, but I don't see why everyone treats it like it was such a horrible thing he did and worthy of a suspension. Assuming Decastro wasn't intentionally trying to take out Pouncey (I won't rule it out), his block was FAR worse than Suh's and there hasn't been a peep out of the media about THAT being dirty.

Actually, I think Suh said to himself, "Alright bitch let's see how YOU like getting chopped..." BAM!

It really didn't look especially dirty or underhanded to me. Yeah, it was too low and a little behind the play, but it's not like one of those completely flagrant late hits, or a cheapshot after a guy's pulled up. As someone else pointed out, that was probably the only way to get an effective block on the guy. Did he need to block the guy? Probably not. But the play was definitely still going on, and the opponent was still chasing it. I'm not a fan of blocks in the legs either, but there are a ton of reasons why you'd do that other than just because "Fuck this, I'm going to try and injure this guy."
