Exclamation Breaking news:Ravens agree to long term deal with Flacco

    http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4677/joe-flacco

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports the Ravens and Joe Flacco have agreed to a long-term deal, and it will be signed on Monday.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora talked to a few contract negotiators around the league earlier in the day and speculated a deal could range anywhere from five years and $90 million to six years and $108 million
Evan Silva predicted seven years and $140 million

The main thing is the Ravens have locked Flacco up long-term without having to use the franchise tag and tying up major cap space as a result. Stay tuned for further updates.

No way in hell is flacco a $18m/yr QB. I don't care how big of a purple hard on you have for him after a SB win.

It's just how these things work. When the Jets signed Neil O'Donnell, he was one of the highest paid at the time...Rodgers deal will eclipse Flacco's. it's just a matter of time.

Not even close to being worth that. Talk about cashing in on one good postseason run...

The stars were aligned for Joe. Imagine what kind of contract Ray Lewis could get for 1 year.

Polamalu still own's Flacco. Thus, Polamalu should get more money than Flacco.

Aaaaannnd...once Anquan Boldin leaves, he'll be the highest paid backup QB.

I wonder how much of that he owes Ray Ray?

lol woodley already tried that by saying he would never appear in one.

joe Flacco's cap number for 2013 could be as low as $7M. Even if these reports are inaccurate, it will almost certainly be lower than $10M. This is significantly lower than the $14.9M the non-exclusive franchise tag would have incurred. The Ravens will now be able to put together their roster for 2013 with much more room for potential cap casualties and free agents. The long-term deal is great news for the Ravens and for us fans.

Ray Rice should receive half of flacco's pay day. As for the great news for raven fans...we'll see how the fan's react after Joe has a few *deer in headlights* games next season.

Rice was not a big factor in the playoffs(3 fumbles...)

Flacco is underrated on this forum(Backup without Boldin?!?!)....Maybe he is overpaid.....but he is a very good QB and he is a winner

Crazy money. First reported at 7 for $140M and now it's 6 for $120.6M. Insane. But not surprising. I can't even imagine what Rodgers will get.

Hope the Rooney's are paying attention and saving their money...

Re: Breaking news:Ravens agree to long term deal with Flacco

Only time will tell if this contract was worth it. What time has told so far is that Flacco has started every game in his first fivve years, has not been injured, he wins in the post-season and is a SB MVP who bested two HOF QB's in the 2012 playoffs.

I think a lot of Steeler fans cannot look at him objectively, which is understandable. He isn't flashy, he's not a QB who is going to throw for 4000+ yds a season....but he is a winner. Five years. Two AFCN titles, three AFC championship games, one AFC gitle and Super Bowl MVP. Other teams would have paid him more.

20 million dollars for a guy who in 5 years as a NFL QB put together only one month of solid football. Even then he was helped by the possibly the best protection any QB has ever enjoyed over a one month span and excellent receiving play where his receivers adjusted to his inaccurate passes and came down with the ball. Let's not forget that before January 2013, he had a pedestrian career and a god awful career in the postseason.

They will remain competitive, but the team had their run. They won it, so hats off to them. Notice nobody is even mentioning the "repeat".

Does anyone really mention "repeat" with any franchise anymore? It has become a rarity in today's NFL.

Basically, it's what the Ravens had to do. They had no choice but to pay him.

There's a good chance that he won't see even half that money. There have been 14 players that have gotten $100M deals and the most anyone has ever "collected" in the deal was $54.6M and that was Brett Favre.

where did you read this? thats awful for you guys if his cap number for 2013 is only 7 million. that just means his cap number is that much higher for the rest of those years
