Ex-NFL players file suit over royalties

More than 560 retired professional football players filed a lawsuit in federal court in Pittsburgh over royalties they say the league owes them for using their images in commercials, best-of reels and replays of old games.

The players rejected a $42 million settlement the NFL offered in a previous lawsuit, in part because the money, spread out over eight years, does not go directly to the players, said Jason Luckasevic, the lawyer who filed the new lawsuit Friday in the U.S. District for Western Pennsylvania.

The players are correct. However, new NFL contracts should have a common line item that the NFL retains the rights to their image and likeness and the players receive some kind of direct or implicit compensation. Lots of $ in the NFL and revenues continue to grow to record numbers. No reason why the owners should profit off the players without fair compensation. We should also not bomb Syria.

the players where PAID via their contracts ( that by the way are very lucrative ) playback of the film or pictures showed after the fact does not change the fact they where being paid at the point in time those actions took place ....

does the HOF toss players that are in kickback money from gate revenue because a Bust in said players likeness is on display and an old pair of cleats and jersey they once wore is on display ???

    see my point
