Man, the fact that people are even talking about it with all this language about "defenseless players" is disgusting. I thought the idea was: "It's football - don't let yourself be defenseless."
Hopefully 30 years from now people will look back on this era and laugh, what the fuck were those people thinking? It really depends on which way the tide turns with all this PC bullshit in general. Which I have to admit does not look terribly promising.
See you Space Cowboy ...
Why not just make them play 2-hand touch and be done with it? I'm sick of all of these stupid rules. If they would have simply let the players play football rather than have a knee-jerk reaction to every hard hit (pun intended), then they wouldn't have to worry about implementing MORE rules to protect player's knees. Bunch of fucking morons running this league.
Ryan Clark sums it up quite well, as usual...
Steelers safety Clark's frustration with NFL grows
The NFL got lost when it went fine happy for playing football. Now dirty hits should be fined, but for making a football play, no.
All Defense!
If you could still hit high, you wouldn't have so many knee injuries from hits.
So what happens when guys aim directly for the chest/ribs/back all the time and those areas start getting serious injuries?
It's football. At the highest level it can be played. It's not a contact sport, it's a collision sport. At those speeds, with that size, that's exactly what it is.
It's simple. Start putting in any and all contracts that the player knows the inherent risks of playing; and therefore accepts those risks and forfeits his and his family's rights to sue the NFL, teams, owners, and medical staffs for any injuries and the results of those injuries later in life.

no tort contracts .....
of full tort contracts with a entire team cap set at 35 million a year the rest of the 122 mill ( or whatever they deem it to be set aside to cover the law suits ) ....
but at some point they have to realize this game comes with risks and for the game to be the game it is/was you have to allow players to play ...sharpshooters they are not but this is what is being asked of them
If I wanna see teams consistently put up 40-50 pts, I'll go watch the Arena Football League. Screw Goodell and his goddamn pussy league rules.
