    That's a shame.

Well, I expect to get about as much production out of him on IR as we would have anyway, so I'm not exactly crying over this.

Man, though. Of all the years we decide not to waste a 6th or 7th round draft pick on some random TE we don't need. This is the one season where it might have actually done us some good.

it is just way to hard to say with Lis Franc injuries , look no further than Santonio Holmes who was hurt last season and has still yet to practice and there has been no timetable set for his return as of yet

Steelers Depot just wrote about Colbert talking of possibly signing a TE after cuts. and that was last week before Spaeth's injury. Know it's something we don't do very often, but this is a severe situation if Miller and Johnson aren't back.

So some ideas of who we could feasibly sign...

We have brought in very few for predraft visits the past three seasons. Just Adrien Robinson (NYG), LaDarius Green (SD), Julius Thomas (DEN), and Michael Egnew (MIA). Egnew only one that may get cut and he struggled so bad last year. Barely ever saw the field. Had a drop in the Dolphins first preseason game.

Dante Rosario is in DAL. Probably the #4 TE though I think Hanna is hurt. Had a little success in the redzone in Carolina.

Kevin Brock in KC. Probably will get cut. Not exactly a good option but he's at least been with the team before. But I'd play Palmer over him so...

John Carlson. Struggled after a good start to his career in Seattle. May be on the bubble. At least has a lot of experience under his belt.

Nate Byham in Tampa. Pure blocking specialist. Local kid, went to Pitt.

Depending on the injuries in camp he could be on the IR return list. Looks like Paulson is our number 1 until Heath returns.

Celek could be a long shot to be cut in Philadelphia. They drafted Ertz and signed James Casey. They also have Harbor who they like.

Eh, I'm pretty sure Harbor has been a bust so far. If anyone gets the ax, it's him.

Wouldn't mind picking up a Carlson or Rosario if they are cut, they can be effective.

Actually, quite the opposite. Last season they loved using him as a run blocker. They were really excited about him coming out of camp and I think I heard they used him 60% on running plays.

Obviously it will be different with Reid gone and Kelly in. But last season they liked him.

I'm not saying he's better than Celek or they are definitely keeping the guy, if I'm cutting one, its not Ertz or Celek, but there's been talk of letting Celek walk...more or less because of Ertz.

We had talked about the availability of Tony Moeaki of the Chiefs ...looks like that might not happen.

Some thoughts after today’s Chiefs training camp practice:
    By ADAM TEICHER
    The Kansas City Star

    • Lot of speculation before the start of training camp that tight end Tony Moeaki might be in danger of being released but judging from how much the Chiefs have used him in the three training camp practices, it looks like the coaches have big plans for him. It’s also possible that Andy Reid and the rest of his new coaching staff just want to get a good look at Moeaki, who didn’t practice in the spring after having arthroscopic knee surgery. But the Chiefs are using plenty of multi-tight end formations, so there should be enough snaps to get plenty of use from not only Moeaki, but also Anthony Fasano and Travis Kelce.

Like him so much they sign Casey and draft Ertz?

    From a July 9th article.

Not to mention both Celek and Harbor had injuries last year that were significant. Doesn't necessarily mean they aren't happy with him...lol

Both are an upgrade over Harbor. Celek is better than Harbor. as a matter of fact, it isnt close. Both could be an upgrade over Celek as well. Casey is more versatile than Celek. He can play FB and has some hands and can block. Ertz could possibly wind up being a Pro Bowler.

Point is Celek is costing more than all three. It wouldn't be a surprise if they unloaded him in a trade.

Hard to trade him if teams know you're going to cut him. Kills your leverage.

Maybe Limas Sweed could block? The Steelers like bringing back retreads.

It has not been a great year so far for NFL TEs. Just ask the Patriots.
