If we never get this guy on the field it will be a tragedy because I think he was going to be real good.
At this point, if we get any production out of him I'll basically look at it as a bonus, but boy would it be nice.
See you Space Cowboy ...
I hope this young man makes a strong come back.
Here's to a healthy recovery. Would be nice to see Spence at least have a shot at the NFL.
I have to be honest , i never followed him while in his college days , But following the camp and preseason , i thought he was every bit worth what he had to offer . Just to keep him around for some more rehabilitation is a sign he could still be another player that his carreer is not over . Does the name "Rocky " ring any bells ? Sure they've had different style of injuries , but they get the same old move on with your life type of outlook on their careers .

Probably doesn't say much. I see those comments as damage control. Tomlin is saavy enough to understand you want to keep the kid with a positive state of mind and at least *trying* to rehab his knee. Butler was probably giving us the unvarnished truth.

I agree with the author's statement : (Something tells us we've heard the last Steelers medical diagnosis by one Keith Butler.)
"Mr. Bleier, you'll never walk normally again."
Kind of the point i was tryin to make , as most always is the case "FS76" came through . You get that kind of injury when your young , determination takes over . I'm not countin the boy out . We will see what heart the kid has . Don't let your dreams die ! When you feel like you can't push no more , push a little bit more . Come on , make your dreams come true !!!!!!!!

Severely injured Steelers LB Sean Spence predicts he will play in 2013
By Ed Bouchette / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Linebacker Sean Spence is determined not only to make that "miraculous" comeback and return to play football, but to do it this season with the Steelers.
"I'm going to continue to attack this like I'm going to play this year," Spence said after watching another spring practice Wednesday. "I'm in meeting and preparing as if I'm practicing. I'm just going to continue to get better and I'm looking forward to the season."
Spence has been attending spring practices, soaking up everything he can about Dick LeBeau's defense, even though he won't be able to participate and some say won't be able to play until at least next year.
Keith Butler, his linebacker's coach, said the team will carry Spence on a reserve list this year as his knee continues to heal and with the hope that a "miraculous" recovery will permit him to play perhaps in 2014.
Spence told reporters that he can run and that his goal is to play this year.
"I know I'm going to beat the odds," Spence said. "I'm not even worried about that. The progress that I have made, the doctors say that I've already beat the odds. I'm just keeping my faith in God and knowing he's going to give me another chance."

Great to hear, it would be so easy for guy in his position to mail it in and cash the check, then retire.
Would love to see this guy make it all the way back, win the job and turn into a pro bowler this year or next year. Far fetched? Yeah, and I would love to see it.

Can't help but pray for this guy, and not just because he's a Steeler.
Anyone remember Destry Wright?
Ouch.
I gotta say my complex elbow dislocation wrestling in college was brutal but I was out on the mat wrestling for national qualifiers 2 months later. It's all about chasing your dreams.
Bone, ligament & nerve damage aside....I am actually thankful it was not a knee or ankle.
You need your wheels.
