When the Pro Bowl really mattered to the players.

Watch this clip. Stars in for the entire game. Genuine defense being played. Back then these guys really played this game to win!

Of course back then most of these guys were making around 18-30k per season, and the difference between the winners share (5,000) and losers share (2,500) was impactfull.

That was fantastic Zu. Loved every minute of that.

Tittle, Unitas, Brown, even Mike Ditka.

Unitas & Ditka both from Pgh. of course.

    Thanks for sharing.

I could fix the pro bowl immediatley.

    1) No more playing in Hawaii. Move it each year from east coast to west coast warmer venues.
    2) Make it a weekend event. Friday night and all day Saturday would be Skill competitions like we all used to watch as kids. Strongest man ...fastest player....most athletic (obstacle course)...QB competition.
    3) Make it fun and interactive for the fans...have the two teams that were beat in the conference championship games meet for a tug a war....mandate that ALL players at the venue make themselves available for signing sessions and Q&A sessions. Invite some of the reitred older players to participate in those sessions....who wouldnt like to get Joe Montana's autograph or a chance to ask Franco Harris a question?
    4) Announce the Hall of Fame winnners for that year at halftime.
    5) At the Purchase the Pro Bowl ticket, you are issued a free (or half priced) pre-season ticket to the team of your choice.

Fill the stadium with real fans...and we might see some real football. Nothing quite motivates a player like 80,000 fans booing at a their half-hearted attempts.
