Steelers OC Todd Haley ‘Would Not Hesitate’ To Run Up Score Against Chiefs

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs will take the NFL’s center stage on Monday Night Football this week at Heinz Field. It will be the first time that current Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley will face the Chiefs since being ousted as their head coach during the 2011 season when the Chiefs had a 5-8 record.

Kansas City was disappointing last season after a flurry of injuries to key players and they had hoped that a change at the top would help turn things around.

Now, the Chiefs sit at 1-7 and in last place in the AFC West midway through the 2012-13 NFL season. For Kansas City things have only gotten worse and their former head coach will have a golden opportunity to stick it to the franchise on Monday night.

The Steelers offense features Ben Roethlisberger and a trio of highly talented, speedy wide receiver. Of course, the offensive attack may be without starting wide receiver Antonio Brown, but the Steelers arsenal is so diverse that they will find a way to move the ball and find the endzone against the Chiefs.

You can be sure that Haley will be creative and try to score at all costs.

In fact, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday on SportsCenter that Haley would not hesitate to run up the score against the Chiefs if the opportunity presents itself.

While the Steelers – Chiefs game may not be the one to catch your attention at first glance on the week 10 NFL schedule, it will be one worth watching to see the offensive fireworks.

Is that Schefter reporting what Haley said, or is that him just spouting off? Either way, Tomlin's not going to allow it. We may see thirty points, but I doubt very much we see forty, unless the defense starts scoring.

Don't believe what Todd Haley says

Todd Haley won't talk to the media until Thursday, but we already know what's going to be asked of the Steelers offensive coordinator, and we already know how the former Kansas City head coach is going to answer

Haley will take the high road about his former employer (and rightfully so), but don't believe for a second that Monday's game against the Chiefs doesn't mean anything to him.

Talking to Haley over the past couple months, he would want nothing more than to stick it to the Chiefs organization.

And can you really blame him?

Yeah seems a little bush league to write an article about something someone is "reporting" and link to a tweat about something Schefter "said".

Ugh, already talking about a blowout? Not a good sign. Surest way to lose is to think all you need to do to win is show up.

What's even more ridiculous is that there are more than enough bubble-headed simpletons out there who will buy it hook, line and sinker - provided of course that Haley actually didn't say it.

I would need a definition of running up the score. Haley isn't going to put Ben in a 5 wide shotgun set while up 21 points with 2 minutes to play.

Ben Roethlisberger: 'You can see' Todd Haley wants Steelers to beat Chiefs badly

The Chiefs will visit the Steelers on Monday night in a football game that's, frankly, a little uninspiring. But if you're looking for a reason to watch this game, how does revenge sound?

Because it probably sounds pretty good to Todd Haley, who was fired by Kansas City midseason last year. According to Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, "you can see" that Haley wants this win a little more than usual.

"He wants to win every game, as we all do," Roethlisberger said per the Kansas City Star. "But without him saying it, you can see it … anytime you've got a guy on your team who used to play for another team, there's always a little incentive that you want to win for that guy.

"We haven't practiced yet, but throughout meetings and stuff, you can kind of see it a little bit. I don't think he's admitted it yet."

There's no question that Haley wants this one bad. His firing -- and much of his time in Kansas City -- got a little ugly. He was canned midseason, and much of the blame surrounding the Chiefs' inability to win was pegged on Haley rather than general manager Scott Pioli.

Haley took the offensive coordinator gig with the Steelers, and his success has gone wildly under the radar. Roethlisberger's playing at an MVP level right now, and the Steelers are starting to show life in the running game despite a plethora of injuries to their backs.

KC, on the other hand, can't move the ball much, refuses to use Jamaal Charles and is stuck flip-flopping between Brady Quinn and Matt Cassel. This game has the potential to get ugly if the Steelers show up in a big way. The guess here is that Haley won't let his foot off the gas when they do, thanks in large part to the way that his departure from the Chiefs went down.

The difference is amazing. "The guess here is that Haley won't let his foot off the gas when they do, thanks in large part to the way that his departure from the Chiefs went down." Notice how the author actually clarifies that it's his/her own thoughts, rather than that of Haley's?

Maybe journalism isn't dead after all . . . wait, yeah it is.

Well...thankfully I'll be starting both Big Ben and Heath Miller on one of my FFB teams this week.

It's OK for the fans to talk, the players and the coaches should just tow the party line and talk up the opponent. NEVER give them any ammunition to put up on their bulletin boards.

You say stuff like, "Yeah, KC is 1-7, but their record is deceiving. We are looking forward to a tough game, because we know they are better than their record"

Todd Haley isn't looking for revenge against the Kansas City Chiefs

PITTSBURGH -- Todd Haley isn't looking for revenge against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The former Chiefs coach -- now the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator -- says he's trying to treat Monday night's matchup between his former employer and his new one like just another game.

Haley was fired by the Chiefs with three weeks left in the 2011 season. He insists he's moved on and has no extra incentive to beat Kansas City. Haley joked he'll be excited if the Steelers win and depressed if they lose, just like always.

It hasn't taken long for Haley to mesh with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is on pace to set career highs in attempts, completions and touchdowns.

The Steelers do not run up the score. They would rather have a game come down to the last drive.

    LOL.

I would love to see Haley take the reigns, step on their throats for 4 quarters and put on a clinic.

I don't think his focus is anywhere other than developing a winning game plan.

Of course when Pioli gets fired as Chiefs GM, or whatever the hell he's listed as, after the season, don't be surprised if Todd uncorks a botlle of Champagne. Pioli is a classless meglomaniac, scumbag piece of shit who did everything in his power to make Haley look unemployable after he fired him.

Per Jay Glazer on Fox, the Chiefs still haven't paid Haley's remaining salary.

    Get 'em Todd.
