    Re: DNC Convention

I can say with some degree of certainty that Obama will NOT be featuring a debt clock. Nor will there be any mention of 8.3% unemployment, nor the 473,000 net NEGATIVE total jobs in the US since January 2009. He won't mention Afghanistan. Nor Gitmo. Nor the giant trade deficit and debt bill to China. Doubt we'll hear the words Syria.

We will hear some lies about Obamacare, Osama bin Laden, and maybe Lily Ledbetter. can you really have a 3 days convention based on 3 total accomplishments, one of which anyone would have done, and one of which is actually a huge mistake?

    We shall see...

I have a gut feeling that the speeches will hit new lows of hate and vulgarity and it's going to backfire on them.

This convention will be about hate mongering, fear mongering, name-calling, the usual liberal talking points, and the first words out of Biden's mouth will be "Hello Virginia!"

I'm concerned about Romney and the approaching debates. Think Obama might take him on these.

    Re: DNC Convention

    Here's the thing.
Been giving this some thought, and I think I've figured out what the core problem of this election is. Obama's campaign is all about (through ANY means necessary, truth be damned) that Romney is a bad person, and, although successful in everything he's ever done, will be a bad president because of it. Romney's campaign, on the other hand, has said many times that Obama is a nice enough guy, just a bad President, and, unlike in Romney's case where failure was rare, Obama's whole Presidency is evidence of the truth of that statement. The problem is, there is actually almost no evidence that Romney's character deserves to be assassinated. The other thing is, if you had $100,000 and you wanted to invest it, honestly, HONESTLY, which of these two dudes would you trust with the money, and which do you think would return the most on that investment?

So I think the DNC convention will be more of the same. While the GOP has attacked Obama's failure, the Dems will attack Romney the man. It's unfair, because by any measure, Romney is a more successful person, almost certainly more moral, DEFINITELY more humble, and probably pound-for-pound a much better PERSON than Obama is. I mean, if you look at just jobs creation, it's quite possible that Romney in his tenure at Bain actually created more net positive jobs than Obama has at the helm of the powerful Country in the World. Romney CERTAINLY was responsible for a lot less job losses. If Romney created even half the net jobs he says he did, (50,000), he still has Obama crushed, because according to the US dept of Labor stats, there are 473,000 LESS Americans working as of June 2012 then there were in January '09.

    Romney jobs (net): +50,000
    Obama jobs (net): -473,000

Think about that investment scenario realistically, too. What fuckknuckle would give Hopey 100k of their hard earned money to invest?

Campaign funds are another thing. He's investing in future federal favors...this speaks to George Will's column I posted elsewhere here...

    Re: DNC Convention

    Talk about spin!

After a week of withering attacks on President Obama's fiscal record, top Democrats on Sunday defended the president's plans for shaving down the deficit -- but said balancing the budget now would actually be a bad idea.

College students from across North Carolina will arrive in Charlotte by the busload. Same with members of predominantly black churches in neighboring South Carolina.
Their goal: help fill a 74,000-seat outdoor stadium to capacity when President Obama accepts the Democratic nomination Thursday night

Elena Botella, a student at Duke University and president of the College Democrats of North Carolina, said her school was busing 100 students to the speech.
Lonnie Randolph, the president of the South Carolina chapter of the NAACP, said several large black churches in his state are planning to send busloads of members on Thursday to watch the president's speech.

Thursday's event is certain to draw comparisons to 2008, when Obama accepted the Democratic nomination before a capacity crowd at an 84,000-seat stadium in Denver. There was little concern back then over whether Obama would fill the stadium, in part because he was easily attracting tens of thousands of people to his campaign rallies across the country.
This time around, Obama's crowds are far smaller. He drew his biggest audience at his campaign kick-off rally in May, a 14,000-person crowd at Ohio State University. About 13,000 people attended Obama's rally at the University of Colorado in Boulder Sunday. The campaign says the size of Obama's events this summer have purposely been kept low. Large rallies are more expensive and security requirements are more intense for a sitting president than a candidate.

What is really pathetic is that they buy into all the propoganda! America's youth want their lalaland and they actually beleive the Dems will provide it. In Lalaland you get free healthcare, free condoms to slut around and if the condom breaks you get free abortions, no to low interest student loans, and more money for much less work. I am sad to say but the days of personal responsibility, and also thinking and researching information on your own, are dying faster than I can blink my eye lids.

    Re: DNC Convention

I may be MORE looking forward to this convention that to the RNC's. I expect to see and hear fantastical tales and extraordinary distortions of biblical proportions. How do you run a convention based on 4 of the worst years in history, and certainly the worst 4 years since the Great Depression? How do you put a positive spin on failure? How do you run 3 days of events on 3 total accomplishments, one of which is actually a complete failure (Obamacare), one of which has a dubious downside (Lily Ledbetter is a bad bill because it allows CURRENT management of companies [even if they have nothing to do with the actions in question] to be sued for actions of former managers), and one of which has undercurrents that actually should shift some credit back to Bush (OBL assassination)?

How do you, in essence, take a giant smelly rotting turd and polish it up enough that people will actually believe that it's not a giant smelly rotting turd?

In fact, this is what we're going to hear:

"Osama bin laden is dead, and GM is alive!"

Too bad it was Bush's TARP that bailed GM out (and the stock is tanking again, even WITH huge governmnet contracts), and that the main component of nabbing OBL came WAAAAAY back in 2007, under Bush, when we discovered who his courier was...but, hey, who's counting? Blame Bush! Hopey's the bestest! Yippee!

Now that I think of it, though....I'm just positive that Obama will give Bush plenty of credit for TARP and the intel necessary to nab OBL.

Romney certainly has created more quality jobs than Obama. Stimulus bullshit jobs last only a matter of months, and at best temporarily stimulate the economy. Romney on the other hand created jobs that led to economic growth in the community.
