Plenty of time to learn. As a player, 22 or 32, you're always working to improve and adapt your game. The learning never stops.
Well i expect he will be starting in Denver
For those i love i will sacrifice.
Si ventus non est, remiga
I bet every player coming out of college feels physically overwhelmed at first. There is a huge difference between college players and NFL players...its how well you adapt to the NFL that makes you a good player
Nothing to worry about, dont rush him in , I think Ramon Foster also came into camp not expecting to be a pushover, so the competitive nature is a good thing, and blocking our Line and LBs can be a pain in the ass even to 10 year vets. Just gotta get muscle memory adapted to the pros.
He's a bust! Cut him!

I said what's the tough part, the mental or the physical? He said 'the mental part I got, the physical is a lot tougher. These guys are really good.'
i am THRILLED that he thinks he has the mental part down. Now that's the hard part. He'll be fine.
Decastro just has to keep working at it. That's how Tough Steelers players are made.
He'll be fine.
Considering he's going up against Hood and McClendon, both of whom came into camp looking like beasts, it's no wonder the guy is a little discouraged. He just has to realize that Hood was a number one pick, has time playing at this level and went full beast mode in the offseason with those insane workouts. He's also the strongest guy on the team, and from what I've read, McClendon isn't far behind from a physical standpoint. The most important thing here, is that he needs to acknowledge this and move on. DeCastro has always been a number one. This is probably the first time in his entire playing career that guys are mauling him and not the other way around. His spirit is going to be rattled a bit. If he can embrace where he's at and realize it is only a physical hurdle, he will be tremendous as expected.
We are going to have to get used to DeCastro's personality. He is the antithesis of the loud and brash athlete.... and everything he says needs to be taken through the context of a humble and cerebral player. I anticipate several years of a high level performance...but when asked, the reserved and quiet Decastro's focus will be on on the small details that he feels need to be worked on.

I agree with your assessment of his personality, however, I think getting his ass mauled by NFL starters has really opened his eyes and probably rattled him a bit. Ben wouldn't have reached out to him, if he weren't slightly concerned. I hope DeCastro can find a friend on this team and smile once in a while. It sound like he needs a win to cheer him up... and lookey there... fresh Eagle meat being served up this Thursday...
As the article mentioned...Faneca traded in and out at Guard his rookie year....and my personal opinion is that Decastro is as good of a guard as I have seen come out in the last 15-20 years. To put it into perspective...I had him ranked higher than Pouncey before their respective drafts.

At least he was man enough to admit his struggles. Now they can work on the physical part of the game now.
Tunch says DeCastro seems to getting more used to the angles now
