Ron Paul asks his "Paulbots" to be civil

I like Ron Paul as a person and I agree with a lot of what he believes.

However I wonder if a few of his diligent supporters do more harm than good for their cause....

At the Texas GOP Convention, Ron Paul addressed the issue that frustrates many people (including me) who like and respect him personally: the vocal, unbending supporters who were/are unwilling to accept any outcome other than Dr. Paul in the White House.

Diligence and support are good, however, too many of them are militant and abusive toward anyone disagreeing with them. My criticism of Dr. Paul is that he never reined those vocal supporters in. Until now.

    Good job Slash.
Seems to me you're the one "without a normal response". Observe:

A "normal response" would be to either refute it or admit it. What's your response? I'm betting it'll be either another ad hominem attack or silence (based on your track record thus far)
    Your turn.

And there's more. They both breath air, drink liquid, expel fecal matter from their anus and urine from their penises. My God, they're one and the same!!!

Now back to reality. No I didn't click on your link, nor do I intend to. Anyone can cherry pick "facts" to say whatever the fuck they want them to. aka spin doctoring.

Watch the upcoming debates. I'm sure there's more than just a few significant things they're poles apart on which will be obvious to all but the closed minded.

I have no idea how to have a rational discussion with people who say things like this.

Watch the upcoming debates. I'm sure there's more than just a few things they're poles apart on.
And when that turns out not to be the case (which is pretty evident to those of us who watched Romney in all the other debates he's been in) you can always simply reject the "facts".

Re: Ron Paul asks his "Paulbots" to be civil

Here's my problem with Slash in a nutshell. He wants things to get worse so his man or someone who espouses his man Ron Paul's platform comes rushing to the rescue to salvage what's left. Let me repeat; he want's things to get worse. And not just by a little, he want's our nation as is to crash and burn! Hit the rocks and sink to the bottom! Because he thinks anything short of collapse and catastrophe results in a retention of the hated status quo.

The only thing he's right about in my opinion is that a normal stabilization of our economic system ( which reasonable people should desire regardless of who's in office) will in fact result in a retention of the status quo aka the two party system.

So first let me address his first little theory. That being a full economic collapse will result in his politics coming to the fore and saving what's left of the day. Given the "desired" political vacuum that Slash prays for, it's just as likely if not more-so that an American version of Hitler or Stalin would spring up from the ashes. Yep a good old fashioned American dictator to declare Marshall law for our own good is at least as likely a scenario following a doomsday event than Civil libertarians ruling the day.

But say the Paulites do somehow emerge from the fracas, does anyone besides Paulites really believe they can fix all that ails the Nation? Governing a diverse nation of 350 million plus people doesn't really have a right answer in my opinion. There's always going to be someone and somethings ( infrastructure anyone?) that falls through the cracks.

While things could be better, they could also be worse. Much worse. In other words the system isn't perfect, but it's far from God's awful. Like the Steelers want to do with Ben, a full overhaul isn't required, just the right tweaks.

It makes me laugh when people portray this country as having hit the skids. As if we're in a second great depression. What a joke. do a little research, and see exactly how bad off people were in the 1930's.
Eight year old boys weren't wearing tattered old dresses because they had cd fetishes. Their parents simply couldn't afford more clothes and their oldest sibling was a girl. Families only ate meat on special occasions if at all. Socks were darned and repaired, never thrown out. Shoe bottoms were fixed with cardboard!

So I'm sorry you can't get junior a new game for his Xbox. I'm sorry you have to settle for a "staycation" this year. I'm sorry you can't put the new roof on the garage. But it aint as bad as you think

Here's words to live by. It's never as good as you want, but it's rarely as bad as you think.

Re: Ron Paul asks his "Paulbots" to be civil

Here's the problem with arguing with Slash: You CANNOT win.

I remember pretty much owning him in a debate, having 3-4 facts for every "fact" of his, , CLEARLY not understanding the subject matter, mis-attributing stats and facts, assigning duties to different government agencies than where they actually belong, numbers being off, claiming videos he posted were saying things that they never actually even hinted at, etc, etc, etc, I mean, just a constant litany of misinformation and junk logic...and then he, out of the blue, just claimed that he took all arguments and "Knocked them out of the ballpark".

I'm sorry, but that kind of thing usually denotes someone who is (removed). And there's just no sense even arguing with someone like that. We all have pretty much seen that he's completely myopic in his views about Ron Paul. Paul is retiring, and it's time to let him and his followers go quietly into the night. He scored his big victory with the Fed audit (which isn't nearly as big of a deal as he'd have you believe), and now he's done. I'm simply not going to discuss it anymore because the Paul movement's irrelevancy is self-propelling at this point. I have also put Slash on ignore. People can do as they like, but it's probably best to just ignore the guy at this point...

Rational person (pointing at the sun rising in the East): "There's the sun, rising in the East, like clockwork"
Slash: "That is, of course, NOT the East, and there's small but growing reform movement who know beyond doubt that the direction we are looking at is obviously the South".
Rational person: "But, look at the compass. Look at this map. Look at all this empirical data that proves beyond any shadow of doubt that we are actually witnessing the sun rising in the EAST"
Slash: "You are wrong, and I have knocked all your arguments out of the park. Go away, or I shall school you on the ways of the World a second time!"

    "Romneytard".

PLEASE don't tell me that you have bought into this nonsense that "Romney = Obama"? If anything, Obama = Bush.

-Perfect score on his SAT. TWICE because it was so difficult he was accused of cheating.
-Monstrous success in business in VENTURE CAPITAL (NOT Private Equity...there is a huge difference)
-Turned around Olympics that was bleeding money
-Successful governorship in one of the most liberal states in the union

Ironically, was deemed TOO conservative in the last election cycle, and is now being branded a moderate or even liberal. More ironically, he's far more conservative than the GOP benchmark, Ronald Reagan.

Everything the dude touches turns to gold, yet defending him earns the dismissive and ridiculous moniker "Romneytard".

If you're intending to defend Slash, you're more than welcome too...

OK, I see another thread has to bite the dust.

Let's not get personal folks. Perhaps we should just remove the politics section?
