Sources: Saints kept a 'ledger' detailing weekly earnings in bounty scandal

The NFL has a copy of a "ledger" that was kept detailing weekly earnings for players in the New Orleans Saints bounty system, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation.

The ledger, which shows both money earned for "cart-offs" and "whacks" and deducted for "mental errors," also points to the fact that players were told on a week-by-week basis of their performance.........

The bounty in the Giants game was totally accidental. Roman Harper came on a blitz and fell into the legs of Kareem McKenzie, who had to be carted off.

That doesn't make the bounty ok but it's no wonder that so many players were enticed to have a chance to get money for complete accidents.

I'm skeptical of this ledger because most of the injuries mentioned were to defensive players, who wouldn't have been on the field at the same time as the Saints defense.

Jonathan Vilma's lawyer blasts Roger Goodell over 'ledger'

The lawyer for suspended New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma hit back at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Saturday, accusing Goodell of being "misguided and irresponsible," in a statement obtained by NFL.com's Steve Wyche.

The statement comes a day after the existence of an alleged "ledger" was leaked to the media as key evidence in the team's "bounty" scheme that gave cash rewards to defensive players who injured opponents.

How stupid can they have been. I know that this is wrong to say, but they should have destroyed the evidence. I mean at this point, they're already in trouble.
