Elements of Todd Haley Rosetta Stone offense coming into better focus

Thanks to several player interviews, and great reporting by the Pittsburgh media during the first week of OTA's, we are starting to see certain elements of what the new Rosetta Stone offense that Todd Haley is implementing come into better focus. Along with that we have a much better grasp of what the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line will look like in addition. It is not like Haley is reinventing the wheel here, but below are several things I think we can look forward to after digesting several player comments and grasping the personnel on the roster........

I hope this is not known as the Rosetta Stone offense all year. Sure appears that is the phrase everyone is clinging to.

    Reporters love catch phrases.

Isn't Rosetta Stone just a key to learning a language, not actually a system?

    - Keeping "old school" running plays with lots of pulling
    - Run first early in the season until Ben gets comfortable with his reads and check downs
    - Less two and three tight end sets
    - More play action and pocket passing consisting of short deliberate routes and quick passes (and more to running backs)
    - More Hurry up offenses as season progresses

Rosetta stone or not, I like what I am hearing.

Having a solid line is the key to us being able to run first early in the season while Ben and the rest of the offense get acclimated to the new system

i say four yards running is better than six yards on a bubble screen.

why? because the O is moving forward and dictating with that run while a bubble screen is a cop out play, one you run when you can't get yards with more traditional plays.

the screen pass used to be like this but now is so overused that it has become a base play.

It sounds like the entire scheme is thought out instead of run, run, heave the ball down field, punt.

Rosetta Stone is the "system" that you buy, consisting of DVDs the help you learn a language.

I've said it before and I'll say it here, calling it "Rosetta Stone" implies that it is easy to learn due to the fact that Rosetta Stone makes learning foreign languages easier than other methods.

Okay, yeah that's what I meant. Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Elements of Todd Haley Rosetta Stone offense coming into better focus

Actually, the Rosetta Stone language learning system is named after an ancient script engraved on a stone that is written in 3 different languages. This is what Ben was referring to....because he is now such a scholarly man.

The Rosetta Stone is an ancient Egyptian granodiorite inscribed with a decree issued at Memphis in 196 BCE on behalf of King Ptolemy V. The decree appears in three scripts: the upper text is Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the middle portion Demotic script, and the lowest Ancient Greek. Because it presents essentially the same text in all three scripts (with some minor differences between them), it provided the key to the modern understanding of Egyptian hieroglyphs.
