He already drove his car off a cliff a couple years ago, if memory serves.

    That's sad.

apparently they're saying he shot himself in the chest, same as that Bears DB, Duerson. Wonder if he had similar motivation. Pretty sad nonetheless, even if he did play for my least-favorite team of all time.

Im watching a video of his family - very sad. I think in the Samoan Tradition , they must view the body . Imagine the family viewing the body with a self inflicted gunshot into the chest

Oh boy... A friend just told me that he shot himself in the chest so that doctors could study the damaging effects of football on his brain. That's sure to cause a stir.

Great - more BS rules changes on the way that don't address the real issues and instead ruin the game just a bit more. Let me guess - 15 yards for farting in the general vicinity of a QB this time around?

Thing is they don't have to play football.. They choose to.. I say put a clause in all contracts that they know the risks and can't sue after they're done playing.. Very sad for his family, very selfish on his part.

There isn't going to be an NFL as we know it in ten years.

    Enjoy what's left of it.

    Wow, Say-ow! Sad.

On the Buffalo station they were talking about the effects of concussions and that this incident is probably related to that. As FS76 and suit have already said, say good bye to football as we know it. Not that the current product is close to what was.

    Struck by lightning twice!

"Miller was hit by lightning twice Tuesday night while camping on the Colorado River, according to Garfield County Sheriff Tom Delessandri.

A friend, David Petterson, told deputies Miller was hit by a bolt of lightning and Petterson was "performing CPR on Miller when another lightning bolt hit Mr. Miller," Dalessandri said. Petterson said both bolts missed him."

Wake up from a nap...turn on my computer and read this....talk about a shock

Junior was a great player....in his prime I would often wish he were wearing Black and Gold

He was pretty easy on the eyes too, if I may say so.

Prayers to his family, friends, former teamates, and Charger Nation at this time.

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefterIt doesn't mean he didn't have any, but the late, great Junior Seau never was listed on an NFL Injury report as having a concussion.

I admired Junior Seau while he was playing in San Diego. He brought some serious energy and ability to that team.

Yes, his demise is very sad. I saw a news clip of his mother on KDKA at 6:30. Poor woman.

That clip made my wife cry and she is NOT into football, but she would relate to a mother losing her son.

Seau the latest chapter in sad legacy of 1994 Chargers

Junior Seau's passing at age 43 becomes the latest chapter in the sad legacy of the 1994 San Diego Chargers.

Seau, whose death Wednesday is being investigated as a possible suicide, becomes the eighth member of the '94 Chargers to die before the age of 45.

Other players to pass away before Seau include:

    • David Griggs, LB: Died in a one-car accident on June 19, 1995. Age 28.

    • Rodney Culver, RB: Died along with his wife in the crash of ValuJet Flight 592 on May 11, 1996. Age 26.

    • Doug Miller, LB: Died as the result of a lightning strike on July 23, 1998. Age 28.

    • Curtis Whitley, C: Died of a drug overdose on May 11, 2008. Age 39.

    • Chris Mims, DE: Died of an enlarged heart on Oct. 15, 2008. Age 38.

    • Shawn Lee, DT: Died from cardiac arrest on Feb. 26, 2011. Age 44.

    • Lew Bush, LB: Died of a heart attack on Dec. 8, 2011. Age 42.

The 1994 Chargers remain the only team in franchise history to advance to the Super Bowl. Seau was a 25-year-old star for the team, which upset the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game before being routed by the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX

Re: Former NFL Star Junior Seau Shot Dead At Home

First of all, condolences to Junior Seau's family. What a tragedy.

Second of all, if it turns out that it was a suicide and that his brain reveals trauma from CTE...as has already been stated, the league as we know it is finished forever.

Third of all...notice that once again it's a defensive player that had problems and has died. Not an offensive player other than OL. The rules are about protecting the offensive players and the hell with defensive players or offensive linemen.
