Darrelle Revis won’t rule out a holdout

It feels like just yesterday we were on Revis Watch. Could we be headed there again?

Back in the summer of 2010, Darrelle Revis' 35-day holdout ultimately led to a front-loaded, four-year, $45 million contract for the New York Jets' perennial All-Pro cornerback.


That contract worked for everyone involved by paying Revis the type of cash he was after in the first two seasons ($32.5 million), while assuring the Jets they wouldn't go without their best defensive player. It was a "Band-Aid" deal, one that general manager Mike Tannenbaum last week didn't sound excited about pulling off the wound.

And now Revis is unsure if another holdout is ahead.

"I just don't know. I'm not saying I am going to hold out. I'm not saying I'm not," Revis told the New York Daily News on Monday.

"Right now, my focus is being on the team," Revis said, but his agents are busy at work:

Head coach Eric Mangini, who expected Revis to contribute immediately to the team for his abilities on defense and special teams, likened Revis' talents to that of Ty Law who was once described as a "shutdown" cornerback.[17] Upon returning to practice following a 20 day holdout, Revis made his preseason debut against the New York Giants on August 25, 2007 after less than a week of practicing with the team

Revis missed almost all of training camp and all four of the team's preseason contests while holding out for a new contract. He was to receive approximately $1 million in the fourth year of a six year contract.[34] On September 5, an agreement was reached on a four year $32 million guaranteed contract, and Revis subsequently reported to camp the next day, a week before the team's season opener

It was a good thing for sure Psycho I don't want to even imagine Revis AND Wallace holding out for the 2012 season
