    He actually could have signed with the Dolphins. They made him an offer but he didn't take it and then they signed Garrard. He knows that he's better off with the Niners.

    I know that, I was talking about at this point he didn't have much of a choice. Dolphins signed Garrard, so I imagine they pulled the deal they offered Smith off of the table. No other team at this moment was showing interest.
