    Patriots at it Again?

Not cheating per se, but certainly chicanery. Kickers are an odd sort, and they all have their rituals. Not sure how much, if any, difference it makes, but if they DID mess with the scoreboard, it begs the question as to why, exactly, they can't just play the game like everyone else?

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-sh...013101618.html

So there it is. The scoreboard was wrong, Cundiff was rushed, and his mechanics on the kick went goofy. I don't pass this along as any kind of an excuse for Cundiff — you can decide for yourself if his miss is excusable or something that even needs excusing — but it's an explanation.

Here's another question, though: Is it possible that the Patriots did this on purpose? Did they have their scoreboard operator display the wrong down, to mess with Cundiff's routine? Ravens kicking consultant Randy Brown is wondering that same thing. Via CBS Philly, Brown said to Angelo Cataldi on WIP in Baltimore, "I don't think you can rule anything out in New England, can you?"

I hate the Pats* but I don't buy this one. Any football player should look at the sideline to find out the down...the officials have that big orange stick that tells you. And Cundiff's routine shouldn't depend on the current down. He should have just been preparing the entire drive in case he had to go in.

Yes, it's not the point at all. Cundiff choked pure and simple.

The POINT is that New England just can't seem to let the two teams decide the game on the field. There always has to be some attempt to provide some kind of advantage. Remember, this is the same team that had the snow plow in '82 come out and clear a spot for their kicker. They just always seem to be up to no-good.

I noticed that there was more than one time that the down was wrong on tv when the Rats had the ball. It is also most likely a fact that the Pats intentionally messed with whatever they could to give them an edge. All I have to do is reference the snow plow game against Miami.

However, the Rat's soon to be released kicker should have still made it. Biggest choke since Vandershank. Scott Norwood is still the biggest choking kicker in NFL history.

I have been in South Florida for over 40 years and not once has there been a need for a snow plow. You might have to go back to the last Ice Age about 15,000 years ago.

Fuck the Patriots & Tom Brady is gay.

And I wouldn't be shocked if the Patriots intentionally had the scoreboard screwed up. Is it the sole reason that Cundiff missed the kick? No it's not. But the Patriots can't ever seem to be able to just simply play fair. They won three Super Bowls while video taping the other team's signals & practicing players on IR so some of the main guys can get more rest during the week. I just don't trust them, and at least for as long as The Hoodie is there, I will NEVER trust that team.

Should the coaches have known the down? Yes. Should Cundiff had known the down? Yes. Should Harbitch have called a timeout to give his kicker time to prepare on the field for the kick? Hell yes. And I feel bad for Cundiff because he's probably going to get cut for this....and it might cause a mental block that causes him to suck from now on.

Well, I meant released from the team....but that is a possibility.

However, and it pains me to say this, I have to give Ray Lewis props for standing up for Cundiff in the locker room interview after the game. The words he said were so true. Cundiff didn't lose the game, the Ravens lost the game. The loss isn't on one player, it's on the entire team.
