It's too bad he will be remembered more for the events of last few months of his life by some rather than for his life long career and passion for coaching. RIP, Coach.

Anyone that knows anything about collage football will remember him as the class gentleman that he was. To think that some may remember a man that devoted his life to the NCAA, Penn St., and most of all the young men that played for him, for anything else is beyond belief to me. Rest in Peace Papa Joe.

Its amazing how fast his health was declining after the incident. They always say, once youre old, you only stay alive for a certain amount of things , and for him it was coaching and the program. Once he lost that I guess his body and passion gave up on him. RIP coach.

No he won't. He'll be remembered for who he was. A great man.
He lived for PSU football literally. When they took that away, they took away his life. RIP JoePa.

You know I'm the biggest Pitt fan in the world and of course despise Penn State, but man JoePa was a legend in mine and everyones book and he will be missed by myself and most. Rest In Peace Mr. Joe Paterno.

Not by me. I will always remember him more for the many more great things he did than the few bad ones.

    RIP JoePa!!

    I agree.

Joe Paterno was a great man but this incident will define him in the eyes of many.

I cannot even express how much this saddens me.

I wonder if the former administrator who called his ideas about education a "farce" was half as intelligent as JoePa.

    Ran across this...

''Joe Paterno became head coach of the Penn State football team in 1965 where he led the team to 22 major bowl games and four perfect seasons, produced many All American players and 48 players who joined the NFL. Three times honored as Coach of the Year, he won more than 80 percent of his games''.

    Quite an acomplishment!
