The civil lawsuit filed by a former Harrah’s Lake Tahoe casino host claiming Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger raped her while he was visiting Lake Tahoe for a celebrity golf tournament in 2008 has been resolved.

But neither side will say whether the Super Bowl star paid Andrea McNulty any money as a settlement..........

Lawyers for Roethlisberger and Harrah’s denied the claims. In numerous court filings in the months that followed, Cornwell presented emails and witness statements that painted McNulty as an emotionally unstable woman who later bragged about the alleged sexual encounter.

Cornwell claimed that McNulty had a history of using sex and lies to get what she wanted and said she was using the suit to extort money from a sports star.

Whatever, not gonna argue, case settled, most likely theres a gag order involved in that case. I seriously hope Ben learned from these two incidents.

It "could" have got settled so McNutty could save face and not face a public humiliation for filing a false lawsuit. It's possible Ben didn't pay anything. I'm sure TMZ will monitor McNutty to see if she makes any major purchases, like a car or home, in the near future that would indicate a payout from Ben.

I hope McNutty didn't get a penny. Ben's lawyers had all those self-incriminating emails and chat logs she sent out over a six month period.

He should have held out for a public apology...unfortunately he screwed himself with the Georgia incident.

Basically Ben lost this case the day he got himself accused in Georgia. If that false allegation had never been made Ben would have been in a position to fend this one off very easily. But because the hooker down in Georgia hopped onto the charges this skank made Ben had no choice but to settle here.

Ben probably agreed to pay her legal fees, I don't think she got a shiny red cent for herself out of it due to the emails, chat logs, and the witnesses to her bragging about the "sexual encounter."

I am just glad it's over. There won't be a court case that could drag Ben away from the team during the season. However, most people have already made up their minds and he's been tried in the court of public opinion and has been found guilty. So for the rest of his football career and whenever he makes a public appearance for anything, there will be "NO MEANS NO" chants.

Basically, everyone who has an opinion about Ben being a rapist or not has already formed their opinion about his character at this point, and whatever happens in the future is only going to move the needle a little bit, including this. Maybe two years ago what happened in this case would've changed people's minds one way or the other. But really nothing can do that now, unless he a) runs into a burning building to save 17 orphans, or b) gets accused of rape again, or statch.

You're right. But regardless, I feel she succumbed to pressure from her sorority sisters, and made a false allegation of rape rather than admitting that she engaged in a sordid tryst in a nightclub bathroom of her own volition.

The thing is, as has been said already those that hate Ben were going to always believe what they want no matter what would have happened if this case had gone to trial. So Ben was almost in a no win situation in a best case scenario.

But the real reason this absolutely had to be settled is because Ben needs the closure on these chapters of his life. If there's a little sting involved, he deserves it for putting himself in multiple bad situations. Also much more important he couldn't afford this sort of offseason distraction. Could you imagine if he had to miss OTA's or part of training camp, all the while having some creep from TMZ following every step of his being? Even if he was innocent of this charge ( which he was) McNutty's lawyer still would have engaged in enough character assassination during the trial to make it not worth his while.

Bottom line is now Ben's offseason is free and easy from any distraction other than spending some time with his wife, and investing himself in the season ahead, and whatever changes the new offensive coordinater might bring.
